They went under because they tried to buy growth rather than do it organically. They were running at such huge losses because of the football. The boxing was relatively high profit. Less cameras, simpler to negotiate and a great regular way to boost subs.

Setanta's boxing model was one of the few things that worked.

If there was a genuine boxing channel that was HD and was churning out repeats during the week, weekly topic shows and at least 2 solid carda every week with maybe 1 PPV every other month than i'd pay £9.95 with an extra £9.95 for a PPV.

in truth i'd expect a big domestic and international card every week.

boxing isn't unified enough for this to happen.

But this surely would not be full programming all week? Even if it were evenings only, how would they have sufficient content to fill the space? He'd have to have advertising on there, surely, to help turn a profit, but with such a niche market I don't see how the numbers work. I expect it would basically be a blank screen for chunks of the week, with some classic fights and a handful of discussion shows (in the mode of Bunce/Ringside) a couple of times a week leading into bills. But I just don't see there being sufficient content to fill the airwaves. I would pay £10 a month, personally, to see a few fights a month, but I don't see it functioning as a channel. It's almost like a couple of £5 ppvs per month, which you pay for in advance and get a couple of discussion shows thrown in. I would pay for that, but I don't think that it is going to operate as a full-time channel, don't see how it could.

I have never seen Premier Sports that some of you have mentioned, so don't know what model they use, so apologies if I am waaay behind the curve on this!

Who would seriously pay £10/month for this? ESPN is cheaper than that!

Price point of around 7.99 / 8.99 a month. No additional PPVs from any of the promoters cards.

I don't have a problem with advertisements on the channel provided they're not in the middle of fights. Sky really **** me off showing adverts in the middle of PPVs.

If they're covering a Saturday night card then the full day of programming is dedicated to it. Think FA cup final day.

    Full undercards are shown.

Possible coverage of the big amateur events. Edinburgh vs London event in Edinburgh a few weeks back would have been pretty decent viewing.

id rather give my money to this than buyina slimetime ppv.Might sound like sour grapes but at least hes intrested in developing fighters with some of the money. Were as sliemtime only want your money

this could work with the rigth amount of live fights ...i know everyone seems to think Bunce should be on it ,but i would like to see some fresh blood doing commentry/colour commontatry etc also i cant see ****** being happy with bunce slobbering on about poor matchmaking etc at his show
