What would Miguel Berchelt have to do to crack your p4p top 10?

I think Berchelt is criminally underrated , or at least hardly anybody mentions him, when it comes to p4p discussions, what would it take for you to put him in your top 10? Or if he's already there, where is he and how far could he go?

For me, another couple of solid wins and he's 100% in the top 10, Valdez next weekend followed by another top 10 contender , or maybe even moving up for a fight with Tank, Garcia or Loma would be brilliant

I love the guys style and think he's one of the best sub-147 fighters in the world

I am a big fan of Berchelt's style as well (he's an incredible combination puncher) but he isn't in the p4p conversation because he hasn't beaten anybody that good yet. I'm glad he's stepping up to fight Valdez, who is better than all the champs at 130 right now except for Tank Davis.

If he licks Valdez, unfiies with Rakhimov (assuming he beats Diaz) or the Herring-Frampton winner, then beats Davis, Stevenson, or Lomachenko (who could easily come down for him), he'd be 40-1 and a shoo-in for p4p.

Good shout there mate, my only issue with what you said about him not beating anybody that good yet is : Terence Crawford is a fixture in virtually everybody's top 10 (most people's top 5, a lot of people's top 3!) Without beating anybody that good, but like TC Berchelt has beaten everybody available/willing to fight him

Out of curiosity, I've read that Berchelts KO1 loss was stopped way too early, does anybody know if that's true?

    Thanks for the post mate

Considering Loma is at 7th p4p and Berchelt has no hope in hell in beating Loma, I say he’s not p4p top 10. That or you move Loma up higher, then you can justify him in the top 10 with a couple of big wins.

If he were to beat Tank or loma it would give him a hell of a bump.
The hype would start surrounding him.

He has to unify. It would be the most simple way. It affirms his standing in the division.
Plus the title holders at 130 have name recognition.

I mean in your personal top 10 mate, maybe he has no chance of cracking your list, maybe a Loma and Tank victory puts him top, I don't know - I'm just curious as to people's opinions

    Thanks for the post brother

Would you rather see him unify or move up to challenge a top lightweight? Either of those options breaks him into my top 10 personally

True, competition at 135 is much better.
And I don´t like these filled divisions at all(jr, super and all that nonsense).
But I would like to see more guys with long title runs. Getting kinda tired of guys jumping from weight class to weight class.

FFS, Shakur just recently won an easy belt and IMMEDIATELY moved up in weight. What a load of BS. They literally maneuvered him so he could grab a belt before moving up. So later on he could be called multiple division champ.

All I know is Berchelt would be a nightmare for Gervonta Davis and thats the reason why he aint ever gonna fight him

Yeah that really irritated me , I can't lie

I'd love to see Berchelt flatten him to be honest

I think Berchelt would be a nightmare for anybody around his weightclass, maybe he wouldn't beat them all but he'd give them all a tough night

His balls would have to drop and he would have to fight better opposition. He shamelessly ducked Loma at 130 to fight bums. He’s looks good against lesser opposition. Time to move up in level of opposition before his name is even in the conversation. So far, not so much.

I would agree that Crawford's high standing and resume are dubious, but he deserves credit for unifying 140 and dominating a variety of stylistic matchups. Berchelt has mostly taken fights against guys who'll get sucked into trading at close range, where he can outtime and overpower almost anyone at the weight (including Valdez imo, but we'll see). Before I say he's p4p, I want to see how he handles somebody with an elite jab or footwork like Loma.

That said, I'm a fan & I have Berchelt and Navarrete (another Mexican fighter who's 1 or 2 wins away from universial recognition as p4p) right outside my top 10.
