RJJ fighting JC and BHOP fighing Pavlik.... If they both win do you think that they could square off for their final and most anticipated rematch?

I mean, who they need to fight afterwards? They have nothing else to prove in the sport. Perhaps they are preparing a showdown to end their careers with no more questions unanswered.

    What do you think?

The way I see it, both of these fights are much closer than most people are thinking they're going to be, due to some subtle technique based issues as well as the under-rating of the fighters involved.

    Pavlik vs Hopkins.

Hopkins has a bad wrap at the moment due to his perceived "age" in the Calzaghe fight. This is despite him dominating Winky Wright and Antonio Tarver in fights previous which are now blown off.

Hopkins fought a pretty damn good fight against Calzaghe, he countered well, he threw that right hand early in the game and was making headway with it.

Calzaghe, with some subtle adaptions during the fight, as well as his lateral movement, angles and handspeed was able to counter Hopkins and in almost all Calzaghe fights, he tires out his opponent, no matter what their conditioning.

Pavlik doesn't have those subtle variations, he's a come forward fighter who throws bombs and through attrition, knocks the sense out of his opponents.

This won't work against Hopkins, his defense is too good, his counteirng is too good and Pavlik doesn't have the angles to upset it, nor the handspeed. His chin is also dodgy and Hopkin's has enough power that he can dent chins, even today.

I actually think Hopkins wins this, through sheer techical brilliance and the fact that his style is tailor made for beating Pavlik. his performance against Calzaghe was phenomenal, considering the performance Joe put in against Kessler.

    RJJ vs Calzaghe

Again, because RJJ lost by KO in a couple of fights, people massively under-rate what he still has left. He was entirely weight drained, we saw what Tarver was like when weight drained and then how good he looked against Woods after spending time at the weight again.

Jones Jr has had time to re-acclimitise to the weight, he has had several fights and although he's not the RJJ of old, he hasn't been pushed so far, against Calzaghe, he will be pushed

Calzaghe can't one punch KO Jones Jr, so it's going to be handspeed vs handspeed.

Personally I think Joe has to play a counter punching game, using his jab and flurry combinations and bouncing out, otherwise it's a fight he can lose, RJJ has more power, equal handspeed, probably not the feetwork that Calzaghe has.

I pick Calzaghe, mostly because he always seems to find a way to win and he's fought better competition recently.

But these fights are not forgone. Anyone who thinks that way severely under-estimates the aging war horses.
