What would Stiverne have to do for you to accept him as a legitmate champ

My Brook/Thurman post was just an example regarding your comment about how certain fighters are believed to be better than champions. I merely used that as an example to say "Contrary to popular belief, a certain fighter being clearly better than a champion doesn't automatically force a swap in positions till proven otherwise in the ring".

Yeah I get that, it's just you responded to my reply as if it was about something else.

Well Stiverne does have impressive wins over Arreola and beat him in a way no one, not even Vitali, had. But yea Wlad is clearly the man and no one has come close to beating him in yrs. Stiverne tho from one dimensional puncher to now a dangerous boxer/puncher and a cool headed one at that seems to know his limits, where the last dangerous opponent Wlad had, David Haye, was too overconfident believed in his own hype and got exposed. Stiverne seems smarter to me than Haye and Haye had a punchers chance, but one punch at a time and making the fight go the distance is not the way to beat Wlad. Stiverne is a bomber and has the potential to take Wlad out early. Wlad has better defense now he'll see those wide shots coming, but Stiverne has that sneaky power, he doesn't telegraph it like Wilder or Haye do that's the difference.

Wladimar Klitschko is the one and only heavyweight champion. Stiverne and all the rest are just contenders and if and when they ever get the courage to actually fight Wlad they will be unceremoniously beaten to a pulp.

Froch has held a piece of the SMW title pie for a while now since Bute and has justified it with some solid defenses. He's been a top 2 SMW since beating Bute and was ahead of Bute before he lost to Ward.

Cotto is not a paper champ. He is a lineal champ, having beaten Sergio who had the most legit claim of lineage of any then-current lineal champ.

Golovkin is a paper champ. So is Quillin. They both won their titles over utterly unqualified opponents while being unqualified themselves. Golovkin is a top 2 MW, but what he wears around his waist is the true definition of a "paper title." Look into it if you got all upset reading these last couple sentences.

Well, because Stiverne has done nowhere near what Froch has done - and that really should be obvious.

That is kinda what I was saying, some people say that Stiverne needs to beat Wlad. But if he beats a few opponents around the top ten then he should be considered a world champ the same as someone like froch, without beating wlad, the same as froch hasn't beaten Ward.

All he needs to do is to defeat Wladimir Klitschko.

He's needs to defeat The Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar for the WWE championship at Wrestlemania.

Thats because of whom Stiverne beat to get the title. Areolla in his prime, with a perfect record and a mountain of confidence, was beaten by the older brother in such a convincing fashion (one sided tko) that he did not lend credibility to Stiverne when he in turn beat the mexican fatass. Right now he is a paper champion that only has a belt because the true champion vacated it due to age/political aspirations. If Stiverne beats Wilder and then Jennings back to back, he will be a solid champ in my book, but he will still need to fight Wlad for the greatest accolades.

So, if Golovkin puts together a string of strong defenses, but doesn't beat cotto, and Stiverne does the same but doesn't beat wlad, would you consider those two proper champions?

KOing Wilder and the Povetkin-Takam winner would do it for most people. Just winning isn't enough unfortunately, he has to knock these guys out to get respect from the masses.

froch's win over bute didn't make him any less a paper champ than a golovkin or quillin though
