What would Stiverne have to do for you to accept him as a legitmate champ

He, like every other HW has to beat the man, and that man is Wlad.

The division will be a mess when Wlad retires, just like after Lewis retired.

I guess not a lot. There is only so legitimate you can be at heavyweight in this current weak era. It is what it is. :conf

    Boxing's worst division. (including straw!)

One could argue it become more of a mess after Vitali retired.

I mean, Stiverne-Arreola II for the WBC strap? Seriously?

And now Wilder will fight Stiverne, even though he hasn't fought anyone in the top 50?

This is often the case when belts are vacated or picked up by a weak champion in the heavyweight division, look at some of the holders in the 90s the lower weights when vacated are often picked up by boxers who have titles at other weights and appear more proven.

Povetkin has the WBC International belt, and is fighting Takam for the wbc silver title. This suggests he will be looking for a shot at the wbc soon.

    Is Carl Froch a champ?

    Is Kell Brook a champ?

Stieverne is a champ right now. He holds a legitimate title. He isn't Scott Quigg ffs.

In the past boxers from most of the best boxing nations weren't going professional, so it is obviously stronger now. It's like taking all the European Ice hockey players out of the NHL and saying it's stronger with just Americans and Canadians. It's nonsense.

    What are you saying exactly?

Stiverne is a titlist just like Quigg.

Beating a sliding Munroe in the rematch and then defending against Salines, Silva and Munyai isn't a great championship ledger, but neither is beating mediocre slob Arreola in a rematch wherein Stiverne got the worst of it until the very end of round three.

Do you have any idea how ridiculous your logic is?

Does it matter if more nations are represented now if the individual talent in the division all sucks?

Let me field that one for you: no.

International diversity is hardly a guarantee of proliferation of quality.

I'm obviously not saying there is an inverse relationship but there clearly isn't a correlative one either.

It just so happens that while it used to be less inclusive the heavyweight division had more talent floating around in past generations, for a variety of reasons.

You know the division is bad when Glazkov can barely beat journeyman Rossey.

That was really disappointing, actually. Glazkov is somebody I thought could breathe a bit of life into the division. :!:

I still think he is among the best young guys out there, but that now just makes things look even bleaker.

    Oh well.

Also, Fury, another contender, hasn't looked impressive against his opponents.

Wilder has yet to fight anyone with a pulse.
