He'd obviously be nigh on the perfect fighter no matter when he'd have come along. When you look at today's weight gaining programmes, suppose he'd won his first title at welterweight,as in real life, then scaled the upper weights. How far up the scales could he have climbed ?

He'd still be an ATG, but I wonder if he'd fall into the RJJ/Floyd "businessman" approach and it would hurt his all-time standing while fattening his pockets.

Robinson was a tough, brilliant negotiator. HBO would probably do something stupid and give him a contract like they did to Bowe and RJJ.

He would have been a reigning champ in Welterweight to Light Heavyweight, and probably stay undefeated with a record twice as big as Floyd Mayweather's.

If he were the same fighter

Sadly...he would have killed more than just Jimmy Doyle. I'm not joking. He put Gene Fulmer out with one shot. Rocky Graziano's mouthpiece went flying like he got shot with a rifle. He beat Lamotta almost within an inch of his life.

No one would get in the ring today with a prime fleet-footed, extremely fast counter punching welter/middle with light heavyweight power.

    Robinson was a nightmare!

Almost impossible to say with any clarity.... far fewer fights, much more hype.....he might have caved and 'done a Tyson' so to speak. No doubt he'd have grabbed a strap or 2.
If we imagine he scales the weights and has the mentality to do it, I imagine he had the talent to really dominate cruiser.....might have even gone over the 200lb barrier as a fat old man and got something! Ha ha....him and B-Hop in a 10 fight series spanning 3 decades

    He would've dominated.

Fighting twice a year with a three month training camp, only having to fight half the fighters out there because the other half are on a different tv network or are happy protecting their abc belt, bigger gloves protecting his hands and only 12 round fights to prepare for.

    I repeat, he would've dominated.

It would have been fun to see him fight in the late 90's/early 2000 era. With ODLH, Mosely and Tito.

If he'd come along later in life, no one would have touched him!
More of my 'eras' comparison nonsense. :D
He fought 11-12 times a year his first decade and didn't lose (except for the LaMatta 'burp' outweighed by 16 lbs. only to whup Jake three weeks later with the same weight disadvantage)
Ray was THE greatest pvp fighter ever. Anyone who would dispute this is simply not looking at the whole picture.

He may have went the DLH route. I could see him winning titles at `140lbs, `47 `54 `60 `68 and maybe `75 depeding on who is there.

Early on he may have even been able to get a strap at `35.

Maybe a 7 divsion Title Holder probably not a unified champ because I don`t know how long he could`ve held the lighter weight.
