The Mafia killed Sonny Liston to troll boxing fans 50 years later, much how Liston himself took a dive to troll boxing fans 60 years later.

Yes, & there are other flaws in the theory that it was likely a mob assassination.

    1) No adequate explanation of why the mob would take such an extreme action & risk with such a public figure.
At least specifics of what Liston was doing that would provide an adequate motive.

    2) Occam's razor suggests that the simplest theory that fits is most likely correct.

    3) I'll accept that the mob would not have the incentive to do things obviously as to make an example of him.
But that does not equate to making murder more likely than an accidental overdose.

    4) His risk factors made an OD more likely-just as did many dying from the needle-often younger, less health risk factors

    5) The player's risk-reward ratio-psychological & material-to come out long after those that might have ordered a hit long ago would tip towards the latter.

    6) Everything we know about his relationship with his wife suggests that to view Geraldine with suspicion is going to crazytown-& deeply unfair.
Despite Liston's flaws she was great to him & he adored her.

Listons death was like so much of his life "A riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma"

Did Joe Louis ever say anything about Liston shooting up?
If he was addicted, lived near each other and hung out then he nust have known.

It will atleast confirm this affraid of needles thing?

Are we even 100% sure it was an overdose that killed hin?

If the Mob did whack Liston Its probably because he knew something the Mob didn't want him to know so they had to tie up loose ends. That's the only reason that makes sense since Liston had value outside of the ring as well. This is if he was whacked though. Its more likely than not he over dosed. I can imagine being addicted to a hard drug like heroin can take away the fear of needles pretty quick.

Many on this forum would say he must have died of old age. He was in his 80s when he fought Ali, they say.

    'Tis true.

Pretty sure Ali said: "He's 74 years old, if he's a day, and he doesn't belong in the ring, with Cassius Clay"

No joke. I heard they found Sonny's birth certificate and it said he was born in 1868 which makes him the first boxer to live past 100 years.

On reflection, it's amazing the naivety and lack of common sense displayed by some when it comes to due investigative approach, including the stringent address of any anomalies and application of suspicion in the framing of questions that are intended to solicit any, potentially incriminating, answers. Investigators work from the inside (immediate family) then outwards to establish possible guilty parties. Nothing should be assumed - and certainly not assumed to dismiss potential guilt. The presumption of innocence until the provision of proof of guilt is simple and easily understood, - and it actually drives the interrogative process, in so far as solid proof being required and reasonably sought to determine possible guilt.

This is NO joke. The details were carved into a stone tablet I believe. Upon its discovery, all Doubting Thomases were instructed (by way of a special Director's Cut, including a never-before-seen, 11th Commandment) thusly: "Thou shalt not question Sonny's age..ever again OR Thou shalt be SMITED!!"

Yes this is by far most likely scenario.
Anything could theoretically be done or faked, but it is not reasonable to assume that it is probable-including that if true, there would be no decent evidence or revelations for 53 years.
Not as cynical or insane like as conspiracy theories such as Q-Anon & assorted, sordid cults.

Also possible is that at I think it was 337,642 years old, Liston faked his death as he had roughly twice a century since Time Immemorial, since he did not want to attract attention for his freakish longevity.
Afraid of being condemned as a demon or sorcerer, he just reappears somewhere else in the world with a new backstory, just usually a very obscure, inscrutable character.

Admittedly this may be even less likely.
But we do know that the dating is consistent with timeline of our species, of which he ay have been the first, ironically Fully Modern Man.

He likely has found another deeply loyal "Geraldine", & I am guessing since he achieved unprecedented fame the last time around, & his image is relatively ubiquitous, may well have availed himself of plastic surgery.
