210. Excess weight will interfere with his Slyknes, yet obviously a 210 man carries more than enough power to ko anyone above his weight.
I'm pretty sure he's about 210 on fight night after the re-hyrdation. I'd go north a few more pounds.
210!? He'll be re hydrating to around 210. 207/208 at a minimum. If he's not trying to bridge the two divisions, if he moves to HW full time he'll fight at 220ish.
Any idea of his fight night weight yesterday? One would image if he needs to cut weight to make 200, he'd bulk to 210-215 by fight start. So even if he's not doing anything special but doesn't cut weight, I think 215-220 is perfectly fine for him. On the other hand, he's so fast and mobile compared to the HW field, I think he can give up a few %s and gain some muscle mass and power. Anything around 225 is fine IMO. That's not off his walking weight plus remember: the likes of Bryd and Wladimir actually gained muscle mass for fights, which is a smart thing to do at HW.
I hope he's not above 220. He's going to win at heavy with speed, stamina, and skills, not weight. It would be interesting if Usyk can win a belt at heavyweight. Why? Some don't like him, but many in that group might view him differently if he can win a belt, proving their old timer 210 and below could still win a belt today in a land of giants.
215 max. Any more and he risks losing his speed, stamina and mobility. He's already big enough to fight at HW successfully if he doesn't cut weight so he should probably just go down that route.
He looked a bit tired the last rounds on fight night. So with 210 ish pounds he has it all. Think he could go up to 225 without any problems. He already has a very low BF% its rather a good thing to fill it out. Like Ali prefered to be around 210 pounds in his prime even if he also made 201 pounds in 1966 as well..
Ya Haye, Jirov, Adamek all slowed down and suffered for it once they got to 220lbs. Usyk is naturally bigger than Jirov, Adamek and perhaps Haye but 215 is likely ideal with 220 as a max. So long as he doesn't compromise his speed, agility, and endurance those are his advantages and he needs to accentuate them. In the WSB he was 207-209lbs in all his fights against the SHW's.
Usyk is not a very hard puncher so 215/220 light on his feet is his best bet. His only chance at reaching anything meaningful at the class is out boxing those guys. He's probably about 210 at CW!
210-215 would be a good dancing weight for Usyk, anymore than that and he'd lose the big advantages he has over the bigger, more cumbersome SHWs. These next few years will be interesting at HW, if Usyk can win a belt or even unify it might encourage other HWs to go old school and fight at their lightest possible weights for more speed and stamina.
