Probably needs Floyd to retire (again) or lose. Only the former is likely

Ward has to wait until Mayweather retires or goes on vacation. That's how Pacquiao got it for a while.

Problem Ward has is that there isnt much at SMW or LHW at present. His best win is faded unwell Kessler and he and Hopkins wont fight. Calzaghe cleaned out the division before Ward got there.
Ward has yet to face an undefeated world champ or even a top prime SMW.
I think GGG may be a bit small at SMW but Kovalev at LHW would be a good win and a good start

Floyd isn't number 1 by in the last few years beating Canelo, Guerrero and Cotto.

Ward's defeated Froch, Abraham, Kessler, Dawson and so on and barely drops a round. He's the legit best in boxing for now.

This! However I would add that mayweather has also moved up and down weights and is a multi weight champ, not saying that's necessary but it would help ward's case to go up in weight and fight some guys there

But with his fight last night I wa really impressed with what I saw, out with injury and comes back like that against a decent undefeated prospect was good

For Mayweather and Bradley to legit lose big or go inactive for over a year.

Only other way I see is for Mayweather to put on total bad performances against both Khan and Ortiz II type opponents AND for Ward to do:
March 2014: wins Lineal/WBC LHW title from Adonis Stevenson
August 2014: win over the winner of Pascal vs. Bute at LHW, ideally Pascal for the sake of Wards' resume
December 2014: wins WBO LHW title from Sergei Kovalev

    Haha

    I love **** like this.

Utterly irrelevant opinions on matters that are not worth discussing because there is so much bull **** involved in such a claim.

To each their own, but theres not a gap of skill between Ward and anyone in boxing. Physical talent? Ya... but pure skillset and boxing IQ? Nobody has him beat by much, if at all.

Ward is already there. He has clearly beaten all the best in his division in much more definitive way than anyone else.

Some of Mayweathers opponents in recent years have been beaten more decisively by other people such as Trout/Cotto, Pac/Mosley(Mosley going 1-2-1 since the Floyd fight) and Maidana/Ortiz and aside from Pac I don't see anyone making an argument for any of these guys being on P4P lists.

Canelo is a good win but compared to Wards recent opposition its not enough.
