What would you do if a WBU title belt was for sale at a charity auction?

Sure the belt is worthless and just another thing for die hard fans to detest about the powers that be. That said, it's being auctioned for charity. I very much doubt that Hatton would be tempted to give away one of his WBA or IBF straps, though. I'd let someone else buy it and hope the money is put to good use:good.

I would buy it and then call out Roy Jones jr for some easy money.
He gets to bow out with a belt and i bow out minted. Great investment.

when people might laugh at this with contempt

but when Enzo Maccarenelli KO'd Bruce Scott in June 2003 for the vacant WBU title

Maccarenelli officially went into the historys books and Swansea's first and only World Champion Boxer.

Enzo then would confirm his status as Swansea's first and ever World Champion when he then went onto win the WBO vacant title.

No fighter from Swansea has ever won

    WBC
    WBA
    IBF

    World titles

Colin Jones of course came the closest when he left the boxing shed behind my back garden and went over to Las Vegas and Drew for the WBC title against Milton McCory

Colin also challenged for WBA and IBF titles against Don Curry

WBO title wasnt about in Colins day

Also Floyd Havard (who also trained behind my back garden for a stint) challenged for the IBF title against John John Molina but was stopped after a few rounds

Then Maccarenelli challenged for the WBC and WBA titles against David Haye and was stopped inside 2 rounds

The only World title belts brought back to Swansea was by Enzo Maccarnelli

    The Vacant WBU Crusierweight Title

    and

    The Vacant WBO Crusierweight Title

A kids WWE belt from Argos would fetch more at an auction than a WBU strap.

Depends if your a fan of the fighter really. Would a Tottenham fan jump at the chance of getting thier hands on the football equivalent of a WBU strap, the Intertoto cup? ( the answer is most probably yes)

Speaking of the IBO belt, in Boxing Monthly this month Freddie Roach said the sanctioning fee for it was $20!, surely he jokes?

A belt many great British fighters fought for or over, regardless of belt prestige.

How about, name as many British or British based fighters you can think of that were eligible, that fought for the belt and won or lost.

    Put there names here....

    I will begin.......

God it's like almost every British contender was fighting for the WBU a few years back.

Yup, Scott Dixon just reminded me Jamie Moore fought and lost for it.
