Everyone needs to stop jumping to conclusions until either GGG or Canelo sign to fight someone other than each other. This very much seems like Canelo's way to avoid having the fight at 160 AND get a bigger piece of the pie than if it were a mandatory defense. I can see this fight getting made at 158 with an 80/20 split for the red headed one. GGG would be smart to take anything in that ballpark.

He's not going to "get a bigger piece of the pie". I very much doubt that. If Golovkin wanted to give him 80-20 he would have done so as challenger. Now as Champion, GGG is entitled to 70-30 in his favour. Why give that up? Canelo is going to find his marketability dry up. He's going to have to face actual 160 guys because he can't make 154 anymore. A dude like Lemieux may well starch him. Canelo is a dumbass.

There's only one choice for a man, let alone a boxer. There are no excuses for this shameful act!

Better question is what would I do if I was Canelo's daddy, Mr. Golovkin.
