The more I watch him fight the more I just see him as a well rounded pretty good at everything type of fighter, for me it's hard to tell if his left hook or right hand was better, but he also had a good jab and uppercut.

At first it looks like he only throws straight punches

The uppercuts from his fight with Cooper were devastating, but the massive right counter he landed against Tyson was the best shot i ever saw him throw tbh

Evander in his prime was a force of nature. Not just with his fists, his head, his elbows, fighting after the bell...……...

The left hook. It knocked down Bowe for the first time in his career (though as Bowe said the kd came because he didn't see the shot).

As mentioned earlier, Holy was more an all arounder. But that hook could be exceptional both in its timing and tightness (he didn't throw a whole lot of looping left hooks).

It's the thing he holds in common with Bowe lol.

    Left hook.

Most underrated punch in the division

Holyfield had a beautiful left hook. He had the rhythm of a dancer or a serpent whilst setting it up, too.

I love the way it typically didn't need a lot of room to be effective. One of the shortest, tightest hooks in history imo. Great timing, too.

He would combine it with his equally beautiful jab, which he unfortunately abandoned sometimes.

Yeah, Holyfield was able to adapt and adjust to situations. Most guys worry about losing their hair. Holyfield just saw it as a opportunity to add his bald head as another weapon to his armoury.

Holyfield had a very good jab which he didn't use enough. In terms of the other shots, I like his right hand more than the left hook (which again he used intermittently). He could throw the right as a very aggressive, opening lead shot, or counter sharply with it.

To be honest, while none of his shots in isolation were the stuff of legend, I do think Holyfield was an underrated combination puncher. People forget how fast Holyfield was as a Cruiserweight (see some of his blurring onslaughts against Qawi) and he was still pretty damn quick by Heavyweight standards, too. When he put his shots together in bunches he looked a million dollars. Some of the combinations he produced in the Moorer rematch, particularly the one in round five (going from memory!) which scored a knockdown, were absolutely beautiful.

Yeah, as others have said his left hook was probably his best tool, although he didn't really have a weak punch in his arsenal. Even his jab, which was somewhat underused or less effective due to his lack of height was a very potent tool. His left, his short chopping right, his brutal uppercuts that'd drive straight up into your brain, and best of all the way he'd just effortlessly and brutally chain them together round after round were just sublime. Awesome fighter.

Holyfield was a swiss army knife but none of his tools were "off the charts" like a tua hook or a wilder right. He made it work because he was tough and well rounded. A very hard worker and skilled enough to win either by mauling or thinking (or both).

Ah good old Evan Fields. P.E.D. user, Headbutter. His best shot was his Headbutt against Rahman. Did you see that guys skull? Looked like he had one of those Japanese donut implants in his head.
