What Would You Say If Magarito took an easy fight after beating Cotto

    then after this easy fight...

    Fights Paul Williams... Loses
Fights Cotto in a rematch... Loses
Fights Clottey in a remach... Loses

What Would Margarito be to you then ?
and what you would think about him?

It depends on how he gets beat.

If he gets beat up in a brawl and KO'ed then i would say he is on the way down. To many hard battles have finally caught up to him.

If he gets out boxed then i would say hes a good pressure fighter that can beat anyone on his day but can also get out thought and out boxed and beat.

It's a big if you are asking.

Well Margarito reached his career peak in the Cotto fight,he is never gonna be that well trained,he is gonna get older,he will never be that focused. He will never reach the quality in the Cotto fight.

i know... its definitely a big if... but its realistic in a way...

but im not specifying on how he loses... he just takes 3 additional L's on his record

Then he will just be a tough as nails, very fit, pressure fighter with decent power that will give any fighter a tough fight.

If he fought years ago he would probably be one of those fighter's that had, say, a 150-25 record.

He would have been a top tier fighter consistantly in the top ten. Would beat but also get beat by the top guys in his division. May even win a title or two but not hold on to it long.

Would you (jacko) feel the hype he is getting now would make him over-rated after taking those 3 losses... or do you think they would just be bad matchups?

If he did suffer those three loses then i would say that people have over rated him.

It certainly wouldn't be because of bad match ups. Margo has beat 2 of the 3 and came close to beating the other one so just because he gets beat by them in a re-match you can't cry "bad match up".

thats such a huge "if" you got here, but if it indeed happens I'd say he lost to the better men. Anyone in margo's position would've gotten the same amount of hype after pulling such an upset and living under the radar for most of their careers.

But what if he fights williams and wins, fights cotto and wins. What Would Margarito be to you then and what you would think about him?

If that happened then, for me, Margo would be the best welterweight in the world and the natural opponent for Mayweather should he choose to fight again.

For some people on here though it would make Margo the greatest fighter ever. Even better than a prime Apollo Creed.

^I would give him major props if he beats Williams and Clottey again and then Cotto in a rematch. I used to not like Margo because he is just too wild for me. I tend to like technical fighters that at the same time can brawl. Hence Cotto, JMM, Rafa, and Diaz.
I used to say he was very overrated but now i see that he is a good fighter whos defense is underrated and also power is underrated.

if marg beat cotto and williams...

i would say hes #1 welterweight clearly
and put him more or less at 6th p4p

ooo and i would expect a Williams trilogy
