What woulda happened to Floyd without Arturo Gatti? May he rest in peace...

Honestly Gatti was a warrior but he never had a shot against Floyd. Floyd picked up an easy belt at 140 but wasn’t interested in fighting Kostya Tszyu

 

He'd be where he is now. Coming back at 49 trying to not go bankrupt.

 

Yeah I know. Nothing would have changed. He would have got another decent fight elsewhere.

 

Floyd would still have been great, Gatti just made Floyd look on another level though

No, Tszyu had not yet lost to Hatton when Floyd moved to 140. Floyd DID take two eliminator fights to face Gatti. Late June 2005. Hatton Beat Tszyu just three weeks earlier.

The issue had been speculated more due to Floyd fighting on HBO and Tszyu on Showtime. It's alsp been suggested Tszyu was on a fight by fight basis with Showtime and COULD have fought floyd, depending on information found. But reality is, Floyd would have always chosen Gatti over Tszyu if he had the choice. Easier fight and more exposure.

And call outs are just empty talk. Every boxer calls out others. Contracts make fights, not call outs.

 

I never heard Tsyzu call out Mayweather. In fact, at the time , Tsyzu didn’t show much interest in fightIng Mayweather at all. The fact remains that Tsyzu lost to Hatton and any interest in a Mayweather fight was gone.

 

Call out are meaningless... Floyd could have had Tszyu before if he wanted.

 

It takes two to make a fight. Show me where Tszyu ever wanted to fight Mayweather or let it go.

 

Show you? Dude...if it was realistic to be made, it would have happened. But Floyd chose to fight two guys just to get to Gatti, who was a bigger PPV star, in case you weren't in to boxing as much then.

Like I said, there was even the possibility it could NOT be made due to the HBO/SHOWTIME dispute. But sure, focus on "Call outs":, as if they make a fight or make you feel better.

A TON of people called out Floyd. A ton of people call out others. Margarito made Floyd stutter when spoke to face to face about a fight. It's just talk FFS....

 

Tszyu was never a big talker he didn't really call anyone out. It is pretty obvious that Mayweather did not want to fight Kostya Tszyu.

 

Funny how it was always difficult for Floyd to make fights with guys in their prime. Seems like he was the common denominator.

 

Yes, the common denominator was that other fighters who were “A” side didn’t want to fight Mayweather until he was able to bring a lot of money to the fight. Oscar and Mosley didn’t want to fight him and Tsyzu never showed any real interest. If I am wrong, please show me. Otherwise, it just seems like Australian homerism.
