What Would've Happened? If Mayweather Got His 8oz Gloves Request For Cotto

Floyd, would have busted Cotto worse in route to a mid round stoppage.

 

Lol @ boxing fans saying floyd would have stopped cotto.

 

Probably Mayweather by TKO and cuts as well.

Just look at the 12th round alone, 8oz gloves would have had cotto on the floor.

 

Cotto would probably have been cut up/bruised up worse

There's a chance Mayweather could have dropped him, and he probably would have won a wider decision due to the tendency Cotto has to become psychologically effected by being damaged

 

Floyd = woulda, coulda, shoulda

Pac = DID

 

I think it would have been a different fight. I think PBF would have went for a KO when he hurt Cotto early on and probably would have finished him when he had him hurt later on. the Smaller gloves would have favoured PBF because he is more use to them and would not have affected his speed as much.

 

The thing about the gloves size is this:

Defense

Cotto: He uses his gloves for his defense, so having bigger gloves it made mayweather have more difficulty finding a place to land. With smaller gloves, mayweather wouldve been able to punch better between the gloves and around.

Mayweather: He doesnt use his gloves for his defense...

Cotto's body punching was not landing cleanly, mayweather was blocking the punches with his arms. So if they had smaller gloves, cottos punches wouldve hurt his arms more. Now the punch that cotto consistently landed that wouldve did more damage was his jab. Mayweather wouldve had a bigger busted lip and more bruise around the eye perhaps. But Mayweather having bigger gloves his clean punches would have done more damage, and he wouldve landed more. Mayweathers defense was really on point that fight, and Cotto's jabbing skills is excellent, he has a great jab, its how he outboxed mosley.

But I think Mayweather wouldve hurt cotto more, because the gloves gave him a lot of cover. but what is the chance that cotto could have landed something big himself, maybe a good body punch while floyd was out of position? These are the intangibles we dont know.
