I don't think Jacobs will be much of a challenge for G, and I'm a big fan. It is a step towards unification, which is cool. I would like to see G unify the division, not because I think it would be such a great accomplishment, but because I have been wanting to see G get really tested. It is time to admit that there is no real test for him in the MW division anymore. He will have to move up for that to happen. Ideally, I would like to see him in against the winner of Jack-Degale should that fight happen, particularly should Degale emerge victorious. It's possible that his size, speed, and slickness could trouble G. Or he could get knocked cold while posturing and give us years worth of laughs a la Nate Campbell. Who knows?

I'm going to pick Jacobs to destroy Golovkin and accuse GGG of ducking him- until the fight is signed, then I'm going to accuse GGG of cherry picking and call Jacobs a bum.

He committed two cardinal sins on this forum - he not only lost, but he lost by ko. As we know, anyone who gets knocked out is a glass-jawed bum.

People are already tearing him apart since he's been linked with a GGG fight.

Don't worry. If the fight isn't signed, we will even it out by saying GGG ducked him because Jacobs would've defeated him.

Jacobs is symptomatic of the mediocre division. He'll just be another ho-hum challenge. He's not a bum but nobody considers him special.

theyre really big guys at 168 aren't they,I was struck by how big a unit De Gale is,apparently GGG spars with bigger guys than that so I've no doubt he could take the power but could he walk a De Gale down like he does normally?

I was devod when Froch retired as he seemed to get better with age,he got up off the floor to beat Groves and totally destroyed a primo Lucian Bute who'd never been hurt like that,Froch destroyed two careers in the space of a year and in my opinion would of been a genuine test for Golovkin but Froch retired, now tell me does someone who was prepared to fight Froch there and then sound like someone who would duck anyone?put it this way as big as Canelo comes in on fight night can you imagine him in with Froch, the very idea seems laughable.

Yeah we been spoilt in the past, the middleweight division was just crammed full of talent and murderous punchers like Jackson.
I know GGG wants to emulate Hopkins and in many respects the division is similar to when Hopkins ruled?

Either Jacons is a glass-chinned bum (if GGG fights him) or a genuine middleweight champion with the skills to expose him (if it doesn't happen).

For what it's worth, I'd love to see this fight in Dec.

Hell get the appropriate amount of respect one should get for beating a solid yet unspectacular middleweight

You guys act like people are just supposed to ignore the fact that mw is a weak division. It's not gggs fault but it is what it is
