What year version of Larry Holmes had the best chance against Tyson?

  1. Prime Holmes took Shavers best and Shavers was KO machine whole fight unlike Tyson who was most dangerous in first five.

The Cooney fight or the Shavers 2 or Cobb fight he looked good but none of those guys were Tyson...I watched Holmes in the amateurs and all through the pro's and 5"10 Nick Wells KO'd him flat 2x at his amateur best and the Tyson fight was a repeat. I think guys like Joe Frazier, Rocky Marciano,Tyson that could not only hit hard but apply pressure would be stylistic nightmares for Holmes (Frazier had only the left but could apply pressure) Tyson had his faults and weaknesses but I don't think Holmes had what it took to bring it out of him...Holmes had heart and tools but this would not be enough vs Iron Mike....Oh Prime Holmes would beat the version of Mike that lost to McBride,Williams and have a very good chance vs the version that lost to Evander in fight 1
