It isn't happening this month, but lots of other fights are. So stFu about it, try to consolidate your very important opinions and gossip to a number of threads that's at least contained to double digits, if not single, and let's get pumped for a few solid nights of action. Remember, boxing? The sport we like? Two guys with padded fists, rock'em sock'em robot style? Or are 44-56 splits and tee-hee Ellerbee said she said he said bull**** that much more important that the first couple of pages of the forum need to be congested with dozens of threads NOT relating to impending matches that ARE confirmed and worthy of our attention? Now, then...back to business... This Friday we have BJ Flores tuning up for a possible Adamek superfight and Jesus Jimenez clashing with Alejandro Hernandez on Telemundo for Mexican flyweight fringe contender supremacy. Saturday, obviously first and foremost is Margarito-Mosley with Robert Guerrero's long awaited return against Edel Ruiz on the undercard; as well as Marco Huck looking to extend his climb back to the Cruiserweight title picture by facing an undefeated fighter for the first time in his career...one who is 18-0 (15) but has only once set foot in a non-Belgian ring... Next week features Ngoudjo-Urango on Friday, and then a big day to close the month out with Solis-Clay & Barrera-Nolasco on Azteca America, AJ Banal and Czar Amonsot splitting one Flip bill (and the return of Michael Katsidis on another), some more of those joke fights at Paris Middle School, and Ricardo Castillo clashing with Abraham Rodriguez for Mexican featherweight fringe contender supremacy. Oh, and... Koki Kameda (Take a vacation from the hype grind, hang up the Pac-Hat and) Discuss! :good Casual fans and nuthuggers, go ahead and cry about how your 12,335,508th negotiation thread is an infinitely more valuable use of bandwidth than actual discussion of actual fights that are actually coming up.
Great post. Lots for us to look forward to at the moment. My personal pick over the next month is Darchinyan v Arce.
:thumbsup Bad enough when ONE contingent is involved, you get the Manchester bobbysoxers and the Pillow-Pinot legions together and JESUS HYPIN CHRIST where the hell did our topical boxing discussion forum go??? What are your picks for the major bouts? I've got Mosley by UD (more a heart pick, admittedly, but I do think he's got enough left and will have learned from the Mayo fight, and witnessing Cotto's fate firsthand, that he needs to be absolutely on-point), Guerrero by TKO, Huck...I don't know - other guy's too much of an eroteme; and next week I like Ngoudjo to beat up Urango en route to a wide points victory (or ref stoppage...though probably not a cold KO), and I tip all the other favorites to win comfortably (Barrera, Solis, Banal, Amonsot, Castillo).
Margarito tko 11. Mosley never learned to back up... Ngoudlo close UD. Urango is underestimated. Guerrero IS supposed to win easy (ko). WHy is he fighting that guy? Needs to step up don't you think?
Especially with an eleven month layoff! His very high-profile owning of Litzau on Showtime was two bold steps forward in terms of visibility and momentum; but the excessive cool-down period is unfortunately about a step and a half back. Hopefully this is a one-off to shake the rust before he tangles with some top ten talent.
Mosley UD Mosley knows how to box and move Ngoudo UD Urango UD Guerrero KO Guerrero will step up this year... and I doubt Mosley is getting knocked out..He's fought harder punchers than Margo and got hit flush a few times by Mayorga (who hits harder than Tony) and took those shots...Mosley not gettin knocked out..might lose a decision but not getting ko...
The Dragonriders don't even come close to the locust proportions of the aforementioned factions. :tong
Are you serious? I remember a thread wondering which fighter was discussed most on esb - listed pbf, pac, dlh, sr leonard, and wlad. all but 2 (including this thread) threads on the main page was about calzaghe. I'm willing to bet once this fight has been settled - on or off, you'll see a minimum of 7 calzaghe threads on the first page at any time
