Hello My little brother has just turned 15 and has been boxing for a total of 6 months now, I have been training him as I have been in this game for awhile and feel he hasn't been getting the attention he needs due to an over populated boxing gym. I would appreciate any advice on what you believe he should need to improve on. He has had 1 bout and has won.He is the kid in the Adidas tracksuit bottoms and sort of high top with the blueish top This content is protected In this video, he is fighting an opponent who is at h the s weight but is 10 years older than him. His opponent has had 6 bouts This content is protected Within this video, the kid he is sparring is an experienced amateur and wasn't taking super on him. All advice would be appreciated Thanks
I agree with both greynotsold and Mr.DagoWop. Also I would recomend to work his: - Head movement when he waits for counter opportunities. - End combinations/evasive moves in guard. - Short distance fight (stance, quick and exposive short punches, defense). - Body punches. - Chin down. - Take a little break in a combination to breath, see and choose his punches. - Lift and extend a little more his lead arm, to parry some shots plus keep the distance and limit his oponent's attacks.
I agree with Caiman. Seems he is waiting to slip for the sake of slipping instead of letting it naturally happen and use it to his advantage. Movement needs work in all areas. Punching forum needs work. Head position needs work, with that chin sticking out someone will tag him good. But the effort is there.. Tell the kid to keep up the good work and try an focus.
