What'd U come 2 appreciate first time U sparred?

    Personally as silly and as obvious as it seems, it ****ing hurts when you get hit! Particularly when it is a bout (all be it a junior amateur bout) rather than sparring.

    I don't remember specifically the first time, but I do remember noting the difference between 2-3 rounds of bag work and 2-3 rounds of sparring. You can be able to do 12 rounds hard on the bags, but totally gas in the first round of sparring. Its about relaxing and breathing...

    Another thing I still take notice of is that punches to the head don't really hurt in the way you may think; its just a flash of light and a loud "BANG" sound in your head. I've told first timers this quite a bit and they all come back and are surprised at the accuracy of the statement.

    I learned to it is much different that looking good in front of a bag. Try to hit and not get hit take a lot of nerve.

    I learned there was other ways to move other than clockwise, and my opponent has a body to hit not just a head. Only after being told though!
