Last I heard about him was an article in the late summer of 2016 that indicated he had had a 2nd procedure on his knee and was hoping to have a comeback opponent named before the end of that year. That didn't happen and he's been out-of-action for 2 1/2 years. Anybody hear anything?
I thought Glazkov looked good early on as a prospect, he was impressive beating Adamek. But then he weirdly seemed to regress and looked very average.
I was big on him too, but it hard to tell what he really does well. He doesn't hit hard enough to be a puncher, he isn't fast and slick enough to be a boxer, he doesn't throw enough punches to be a swarmer. He is good enough to be a fringe contender, but is not spectacular at anything. The heavyweight division is about to get VERY crowded, so he should either get himself re-established right away or just stay gone.
He jacked up his knee pretty badly in the Martin fight. It popped out of the socket twice. I wouldn't be surprised if he ever came back from that.
He looked very average against Derric Rossy,Malik Scott and Steve Cunningham-2 controversial wins and 1 very controversial draw also. Too small for HW and too light punching and not that skilled. He had to drop 20 lbs and try Cruiser instead.
Try Cruiser and do what? Trying for one of the vacant straps when Usyk and Gasman move up? Glowacki, Briedis and Dorticos would have a field day with him. And rhen there's still old Lebedev, Wloda, Tabiti, Hunter and Perez to fill the second tier... he might be able to be competitive with the likes of Vlasov and Masternak though, but I'd favor them too.
He grew his hair, got a few tattoos, lost a little weight, changed his name to Oleksander Usyk, and became the unified cruiserweight world champion.
