He was a Beast. Fought two close wars against Adamek and I haven't heard of him since.

Yep he sure was something.. I heard he retired but im not sure..

His two fight against Adamek were classic, especially the first one.. He was like a freakin tank.. Somewhat limited but a hell of a chin and a punch..

I was more impressed by Adamek though. He fought with a broken nose in the first fight and came through.. He earned my respect right then and there..

It would have been interesting to see Paul briggs in the current 168-175 division...

    Dawson VS BRiggs?

His fights with Adamek were amazing. Think he's retired.

He appears to be retired although there was no official announcement, he has been commentating on domestic Australian fights for the past couple of years and is training his brother Nathan now.

He tried to make a comeback a year or 2 ago but was apparently suffering from some sort of nervous condition that pretty much sent him into retirement.

One of my favourite Australian boxers, I hope he does well in his post-competitive career.

Yeh definitely all the wars he has been in including his long kickboxing career would have taken it's toll on him and I think he made the right decision to retire.

Don King turned down a Dawson fight for the WBC belt and I believe Briggs was very upset about it. Ironic, as Briggs would have done better vs Chad, than Adamek. Even though he couldn't quite beat Adamek, he could have really troubled Dawson, as he picked his shots well, for accuracy, was compact and calm, and had experience v southpaws i.e. Drews.

  12. I agree. I think Briggs would of done better than Adamek did. Adamek looked lost.

And don't give me that, oh Adamek beat him so he loses to Dawson crap. Briggs was as tough as nails and Adamek didn't really look himself in that fight.

He had problems with his nervous system and his doctor told him to retire. All the drugs, Muai Tai, and Boxing took a toll on his body and his doctor suggested he retire.

and the KFCs. in his autobiography he said he blew up and ate too many KFCs. seriosuly though, he had a very eventful life so wear and tear is no wonder with the physical and mental stuff he went rhough.

i felt he won the 2nd adamek bout, though even his trainer told him he didn't throw enough shots. if briggs hadn't fought the most freakishly tough, hard headed guy with the biggest pain threshold - in the higher weights - in adamek, i'm pretty sure he would have KO'd most ppl with those shots.

briggs was brutal. a horribly accurate puncher. just look what he did to adamek's face - in both fights.
