Thats terrible for him ... Jermain Taylor, Roy Jones, Julio Cesar Chavez, Erik Morales, Wladimir Klitschko, Lennox Lewis ... just a few fighters that redeemed themselves with immediate rematches to guys who knocked them out ... way worse than Cotto was done. Win or lose ...
As far as JT and RJ redeeming themselves to guys that knocked them out....an immediate decision loss is redemption? It's an improvement but Lennox knocking out McCall and Rahman, now thats redemption.
:goodIt's what I was thinking. I heard that Cotto wants to fight in Puerto Rico in his next fight and who better to fight there than a fellow Rican who also was a recent Margarito victim. Both of them have only lost to Margarito so I imagine this would be a huge event in Puerto Rico.
Forgot the source but, I seen a small article that says he wants to be back in the ring before the end of 08
I think that the best choice is a Mosley rematch, honestly. A guy who can lay the hammer to him but would struggle to get a KO, who has solid skills and who is likely to pressure him in a weaker form than Margo did. I think its perfect. Tactically, Mosley landed his best punches in the first fight when he was muscling Miguel back. I think Mosley would fight the pressure type fight, and Cotto would outbox him again, slightly wider this time, and get a confidence booster from the time under fire. Guys at my gym think a Judah rematch, which would be feasible, but not special, as Judah wouldnt give Cotto what he needs to get confidence back: A constant, steady pressure.
