A lucky punch is a "from nowhere" punch, of which there are two kinds 1. a hayemaker that is thrown wild-The fighter throwing it is almost always fighting desperate, and although it is a power shot, it is neither timed or part of a strategy, but simply a desperation shot. It generally does not land, although in rare instances it ends up perfectly countering the opponent and gives the fighter a KO 2. An unintended KO punch-this is an instance where the fighter throws a punch that does not have KO intentions, but by way of position it lands perfectly, and results in a KO or knockdown. The fighter throwing is generally surprised as the fighter getting hit
No such thing as a lucky punch, have you ever heard of a lucky homerun?? guy's throw a 1000 punches sometimes in a night if 1 lands so be it..
Just a popular thing for the losing fighter to say. No Luck in the fight game. A lot of other shady things going on though.
Tommy Hearns getting KO'd with that one haymaker punch off Iran Barkley in their first fight! That was a lucky punch!
I stopped believing in "lucky punches" in a pool hall one time, actually. I was watching a game and a guy made an incredible shot. His opponent called it "lucky" after the game and they had an argument. The shooter made a great point, "How could it be lucky if I was trying to make it?" If a guy throws a punch, he is obviously intending to do something with it. If he throws the punch, it's not "luck" if it has the intended effect, which is to harm the opponent. We can call some punches "unlikely", as in the guy is getting pummelled and lands one big shot, but "unlikely" is not "lucky".
the definition of a lucky punch should be this [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJFHKnRzaeE[/ame] this fight was equivalent to Vitali-Briggs (actually a worse beating) it would be like if briggs landed a bomb on vitali in the 12th round after doing nothing but taking punishments for the first 11
