If a man gets knocked down the knuckleheads soon proclaim his chin is made of glass or china or whatever.

    "Lineal Champion".

Does it really mean something? Does it really mean that a particular boxer beat the real deal? Does the Lineal Champion = The best of that division?

If indeed a particular boxer defeated the real deal who happens to be the Lineal Champion.... Do you think it is necessary to emphasize that he was the lineal champion? Why not just say.... He defeated the best (mention the name) @ _____ (weight) at that time who also was in his prime etc, etc, etc. who had a record of....etc, etc, etc.

Do boxers get extra points or more recognition after retiring for defeating the Lineal Champion, even if the Lineal Champion wasn't the real deal of that particular division? Could this help boxers to be inducted in the HOF?
