I’m just guessing… fruit? Like raisins, maybe gummy bears idk just some fast acting carbs (sugar) to get him feeling good, quick energy etc.
Maybe Arguello was chewing on " magic food" like Pryor had the "magic drink" from the 1st fight? All jokes aside , I have no idea. However since it was a perfessional fight, I'm sure it was something legal that was believed to enhance his energy level and endurance.
It was definitely something legal because there was no attempt to hide it or wait until the fight had started when it would have been harder to spot. He seems to be eating rather than chewing it so I think you're right that it was something to give him a final energy boost.
