When he fought dela Hoya, tremendous odds were stocked against him but
he proved many of usl wrong. He continued defying predictions when
he fought bigger fighters that some recognized fighters continued to
stay away from. Who would have thought two years ago that a lightweight Manny
will fight let alone beat convincingly fighters like dela Hoya, Hatton, Cotto, Clottey, Margarito,
or even Floyd who is continuously and shamelessly hiding away from him.

Now, Manny has this aura of invincibility. What's in him that others don't have?
Let me venture to answer this question. It must be his deep rooted devotion and faith
in a Supreme Being that he gives recognition to and gratitude every time he fights.
He does his damned best and God has taken care of the rest.

No, Latin Fighters fight for "god" according to Ali, but plenty of them still lose fights.

emmanuel gets credit for the Hatton and Cotto fights.:thumbsup

When the blackest of the black, slickest of the slick and best of the best refused to fight you and showed a a hint of being scared of you, that gives you the aura of being invincible.

I agree. It was a genius move to let an ex-flyweight go into the ring and beat up the likes of De La Hoya, Hatton, Cotto, Margarito and send them all to the hospital while he sang in concerts and parties!

Pac is such a cherry picker!

Manny has a huge following. PHI has a population close to 100 million plus 10 million outside the country (living in us,middle east etc). Have you ever seen a fighter with that much following? Put yourself in his position? Can you afford to lose when there's a lot of people expecting you to win?

Filipino fighters like Donaire, penalosa, viloria, bautista, nietes, mayol etc.. people know their names but only around 5-10% are actually following them and watching their fights.

In the sport of boxing we have so many fighters who has a huge following like cotto, trinidad in PR. Morales, barrera, marquez in MX etc.

None will compare to manny's fans. it is even evident in this forum that filipino fans are obsessed with manny and a defeat will surely affect the lives of millions of people. The good thing about manny is he knows it and he's up for the responsibility. That is why he still trains as hard as ever and he's still hungry.

I would compare manny to Kobe bryant. They have the same mentality in their respective sport. They never get contented with what they already achieved. Look at kobe's batchmates iverson,j.oneal,walker,camby,abdur-rahim,Marbury etc.

So it's pretty simple. Manny cannot afford to lose at this point of his career.

To be honest, Pac doesnt have, nor has ever had to me, that Aura. That is what makes it so exciting and so amazing when he overcomes some of these fights and fighters. He still doesnt have that aura to me, although a few more performences like the ones hes been having and he might. Just IMO. I know to a lot of people he already has it.
