Whats caused the problem between Tito Ortiz and Dana white?

The reason Tito no-showed the boxing match is because he says he wasn't getting paid for it and had no contract for it - although it is public knowledge that the clause for the match was in his renegotiated contract. Apparently no further details were drawn out regarding the rights to and payments for the fight. White used Tito's absence to bury him on the Spike TV special.

 

Its obvious to any person with brains Tito can still go at a very high level especially outside of the UFC. He beat Forrest with one leg,won more rounds then Rashad but a meezly point deducation gave him a draw,the only person to even do anything at all to Machida he nearly finished him with the Triangle but sweat got him free if its round 1 I guarantee Machida doesnt survive. Thats the top guys in the UFC and hes beating them or atleast giving them hell he would do very well in Strikeforce.

I may have been a bit extreme in my underrating of Ortiz at this point. But he hasn't been able to win the big fight in YEARS......and the older he gets,..and at the same time the division he resides in gets better and better......Don't see Tito ever being a force in MMA ever again.

 

Not that it doesn't hold up but that it is irrelevant because Tito Ortiz backed out.

 

Tito backed out of the boxing match for good reason. Dana white advertised the thing and was set to make money off of it on Spike TV, yet he's not gonna pay Tito for it??? It doesn't matter who made it public, whether it was Tito or Dana, once it was public and set to be viewed nation wide.....YOU HAVE TO PAY YOUR FIGHTER!!!!!! If the UFC is making money off of Tito playing scrabble on television, then they should pay him for it. Period, End of Story. Tito might have acted like an assshole and it might be his own fault, but in this situation he was 110% correct.

And i don't think you can. And i know you dislike Dana and the UFC.
But he changed MMA for the better in most peoples eyes.

He helped bring MMA to the mainstream.
Fighters get more money than ever before because of that.

He helped turn a dying debt-riden company to a profitable organzaition that does over 15 shows a year. And it's being taking it to a worldwide market.

Most weight divisions have a high amount of 10 ranked fighters.

ESPN talks about MMA, Showtime shows MMA, here in the UK it big news when MMA comes to town(plus newspapers have weekly MMA columns).
(Though we may not have have somewhere to watch it in the near future with Setanta about to go under. :-()

Dana/UFC have been(and still are) changing public perception that MMA isn't '**** fighting' or a 'blood sport', but a real sport with top level athletes.

Dana may be a marmite sort of guy, you either love him or hate him.
And some of his business methods are some what harsh.

But you can not deny it's been generally good for the sport.

And if you still do, then your just a hater. :good

(It's also not Dana's fault Pride went under, blame that on them have dodge Yakuza dealings)

Dana may not be everybody cup of tea, but you can't say anything against what he's done for the sport.
