Whats Dan Geale & the IBO doing with the MW title?

Reminds me a little of a story I heard Barry Michael tell about one of his bouts held somewhere in northern Australia years ago.

Barry was acting as promotor, main event fighter and most things in between. By the time the main event, featuring him, came about he already knew they were going to take a financial hammering, and that's before he had to get in and fight his 10 rounds!

 

Stick to nuthugging other 'Pioneer' fighters Mr Ash before making calls like this. I'm sure Grange and Mr Geale are quite happy with whatever route they are pursuing.

Your 'Pioneer' wouldn't know what route to take, let alone a weight division and is trying to have more choices than a Sizzlers restaurant.

 

The fight would be held over in the US for sure, with it on PPV here likely. That way the promoter would get more income. But anyway, I'm just speculating.

Back on point, the Grange are tip top operators and Bill Treacey is a fantastic manager with Daniel Geale's best interest as his focus.

I'm sure the path he has committed for Daniel will put him in the right position for bigger honours and the bigger fights in the near future. I think off memory, Daniel's 28, not 38 so time is on his side.

 

Haven't really followed the thread but I think Ash alluded to Grange not being as cosy with the IBO now. I've got a hunch that may be right.

Anyway, I think (heard) GOSB are moving in a different direction with their fighters, not the IBO route they tended to take.

 

It's not necassarily about fans wanting to see Geale fight all the time it's about a wanting to see a guy who would clearly benefit from fighting more often.

While he's had 20 odd fights now, he really hasnt faced enough tough oppostion to hold him in good stead when he steps up. Management may be looking after his best interests financially but imo for him to become a better professional fighter whats wrong with him fighting guys like Sam Soliman, Jr Talipeau, Pradeep Singh, Mitresvki while waiting.

Even drop down to Jr middle if needed, or argie/Asian Mundine type opponents.....anyone decent really without spending a fortune.

Mundine is the polar opposite, he stepped up then went backwards but imo it would better serve Geale's career to let him peak before deciding he's ready to step up.
