I think Da Boxer's post pretty much covered it...

    Yeah, I believe he did.

When Cotto stared him down after the rematch, I took that to mean he had felt the difference in the ring. I am pretty sure Margo was loaded for the first fight and who knows for how many fights before that.

Strange they had such a drastically different effect on him, the body shots in the first one were really slowing him down, and just busting his ass up. Second fight, by the ninth round, you'd never know Margo was working over Cotto's body with the same short hooks, and uppercuts that were so instrumental for his victory in the first fight.

    But Cotto would know.

It is awful convenient, that from the moment Brother Naz caught them, "Tony" had **** all as far as power goes, for the rest of his career.

That's because didn't get hit nearly as much in the second fight, Margarito was a worse version of himself whereas Cotto had improved a lot. They also had heavier gloves at a higher weight.

Whether he was wrapped or not I think he beats Cotto that night every single time and in similar fashion

I'm far from a margarito apologist, but firstly Margarito has never ever had one punch power, he's an accumulation puncher. He hit Cotto plenty in their first fight but didn't really hurt him until around the 7th or 8th round when the bodyshots and constant movement had really started to effect Cotto.

Secondly, you ignored Rico on the last page pointing out to you that Margarito nearly folded Pacquiao in half with bodyshots, and quite truthfully Pac hasn't looked the same since that fight.

It's just too easy to batter Margarito nowadays, but remember many fighters have lost because they've badly struggled with a broken nose, and for me that was a huge factor in that fight.
Are we to believe now that Margarito being "the most feared man in boxing" and "the best kept secret etc," was all just a fallacy and was completely based on wraps?
    Maybe some will.
But for me,I like to think of that fight as the wonderful spectacle it was at the time."A fight for the ages" and the most exciting top level fight I'd seen in years.

Sorry, for not noticing before, I was just informed I ignored your post lol. You make good points! The thing about Margo hurting Pac to the body is, (at least to me) Manny is naturally the much smaller man, and has always been susceptible to strong body attack. As he has been stunned or hurt to the body several times throughout his career, and has actually been KO'd from body shots. So with Margo being the naturally much bigger fighter I would expect him to be able to hurt Pac to the body, since the body has usually been the easiest place to hurt him.

The rest of your post is excellent! And hard to argue with, being how logically it makes a lot of sense, at least to me :good

How much truth do you think is in freddie roachs comments?
He said that he s sent different fighters to spar with margo and some said he did nt have any punching power and some said he hit like a train? It was said in the build up to the pac margo fight so it could of been just talk to get under his skin but if it is true then it sounds like they had been using the wraps for a long time not just in fights either!!

it was crazy but mostly the opinions are racial, mexicans defend margarito, the black posters hated margo. Others have mixed opinions but some of them backed margo only because they see him as a threat to floyd

I'm black and I thought Marg's win was clean. Margo has never been a big puncher at 147 let alone 154. He broke Cotto's will by walking through his punches.

Well we know that the NSAC provides wraps for the fighters, where California (where he fought Mosley) lets you bring your own. We know the NSAC was in the room and signed off on them. We know Cotto's uncle was in the room watching the process. So I say no chance
