I have to go with William Joppy on this won. Despite being undersized Tito was still dominate because of his brutal punching power, this showed everyone that he is a classic overachiever, his career still would have been even better if he would have stayed at 154

Any P4P list that had Trinidad above RJJ back then is a joke.

Tito made 17 title defenses at WW, beat the type guy's at 154 in his short 8 month stint there and defeated a MW champion despite being undersized, the list was no joke

And yet people were demanding he fight Dariusz, ignoring the fact he had made a living beating up on Roy's leftovers for some time, and was beaten handily by another Roy leftover (gonzalez). Roy was a clearly better fighter than Trinidad in almost all facets except brute power, P4P. Roy actually had legitimate defense, while Cheato low-blowed his way out of trouble spots. Wher would Cheato be if he wasn't given the gift against DLH???

Trinidad is one of those fighters whose power impresses you in the ring, but in the end lacks substance in the resume area.

Sure he took on guys like Hopkins and Jones, but he lost those fights. His "win" over De La Hoya is considered one of the most controversial decisions of the decade as well...that doesn't leave all that much.

William Joppy? This guy lost a UD to Cesar Green (who lost at 154 to that bum Carl Daniels) and couldn't even beat Rodney Toney.

Obba Carr? Never beat a single top 10 fighter, was still filling out and too small for Tito in '94.

    Vargas? Too green.

    Whitaker? Way too old.

Trinidad's resume is just not on par with the great fighters of the 1990's.

    prolly joppy.
3 wieghts up against a solid solid middlewieght champion who hadnt shown any chin issues was made a st patrick day drunk that night.

vargas i can understand but if you had the power you could crack his chin pretty easily. joppy was slick and hard to hit and was only beaten by self concious southpaws...yet trinidad disposed of him in 9 mins all guns blazing.

I agree that Roy ranks far above Trinidad, but your argument against Dariusz M is flawed at best.

RJJ may have decisioned Gonzalez easily, but Dariusz lost to Gonzalez when he was a shot 35 by a controversial SD.

On the same token, Dariusz KOed Harmon, who had just beaten Glen Johnson easily, who went on to KO Jones easily.

Dariusz also KOed a prime Griffin, who held a win over Jones.

Yes, RJJ was shot against Johnson, but Dariusz was just as shot when he faced Gonzalez, and took the 7 year younger Gonzalez to a close decision.

In the end, there is no doubt that RJJ and DM should have fought, they were the best two LHW's of the past 20 years.

    Exactly.

Dariusz beat a prime Hill for his belts, Roy then went on and beat an inactive Hill one year later and picked up DM's vacated titles.

I love the way people have an excuse for every victory he has had, like his greatness was given to him by the hands of luck, stupid people:roll:

    Going into these fights

    Campus
    Carr
    De La Hoya
    Reid
    Vargas
    Joppy
    Mayorga

People were giving Tito a good chance to lose these fights, then when he pounds them the excuses come, what ****ing losers

One fight against someone previously fought by Dariusz vs:
    Gonzalez
    Griffin
    Hall x2
Harmon = 5 to 1 ratio in Roy's favor. Your bias? hmm??
Dariusz deserved to be stripped for his future career of gifts in Germany against Bums and Roy leftovers. Further, no one in this forum is unbiased-you seem partial to Trinidad, I was just stating a tactic he used, not him, and the fact RJJ was better than he was P4P. Accept it.

On paper it was De La Hoya, and Trinidad reaped the attention and rewards of that fight en masse.

Umm...Id say Vargas. That fight was awesome.
I thought his victory over Yory Boy, Reid, Joppy were great.
His victories against Carr and Thiam impressed me as well

Tito was a heavy favourite in every one of these fights except DLH, which most people (Jack Presscot aside) believe he lost/didn't win.
