it is a shame, he turns 27 in a couple of weeks and I agree he'd demolish Wilder with ease. Nothing announced and its unforgivable for a young heavyweight prospect to go 12 month without a fight, although i heard he only fights when he needs money

Not all that dedicated, likes Irish beer and women by accounts. Seems to be an ongoing issue with Cuban boxers. Once they leave the regimented communist system and get some freedom, their dedication goes out the window
The issue is exactly that they have never had to be self-motivated and dedicated to begin with. They have always had coaches, trainers, etc. to tell them what to do and when.

Poor Management and lack of motivation on Perez's part in equal measure. If he lacks the motivation to tell his management he needs a fight or change his management to someone who can get him some meaningful fights I think that speaks volumes over his prospects in the future.
