They were close fights so they're not going to start screaming 'I WUZ ROBBED' at Larry Merchant. If you think that was a CLEAR win for Pavlik, you are th eone who doesn't know how to score a boxing contest. PAVLIK "During the rounds three through six he was confusing me," Pavlik said. "As I came in he was countering me and I was thinking what do I do now?" Yet, you and the judges probably gave him those three rounds as well. Jermaine Taylor has a right to be upset he didn't win this fight.
I can't believe there are people acting like this was some kind of robbery! JT was given an edge in his fights against BHop and Spinks (JT's worst ever performance)--all 3 fights could've gone either way (I had them all as draws); and enough to hold on to his title (I agreed) against Winky based on being busier--the same reason people scored last night for KP. I like KP and JT, I think they're both good for boxing and likable guys. KP just did a little more, no shame in JT's performance.
They both admitted to losing on their own accord. Taylor in the post fight press conference and Shane to De La Hoya following the fight. 8-4, 7-5 at worst for Pavlik. That's pretty damn CLEAR to me, and most posters on this site. So based on this, are you suggesting rounds 3 through 6 were all Taylor rounds? :rofl If so, there's really no discussing this any further with you. No ****. He doesn't even think he won. Why do you? It's like being an employer insisting on paying an employee for hours they're telling you they didn't work.
No boxer is going to come out and say they believe the won such a close fight. Everyone would think they were a spoilt whining little *****. Especially when he has enjoyed the luck of having dumb judges in his career. Pavlik was magnanimous in victory giving a lot of credit to Taylor, doesn't mean he thought he lost. In the post fight interview, Taylor basically said that contesting the defeat takes away the glory of a fighter, which he wouldn't do in sportmanship, but in his mind he knows he didn't lose the fight.
