Aint heard nothing about when his fighting next,Heard that his fighting jonn thaxton next any1 know anything about that.
No, Lawton's fighting Gary Buckland later this month in a British Light-Welterweight eliminator. I heard Mezaache too.
Seems to be stuck in slow motion Murray. His career needs to pick up some momentum with either a crack at the Euro belt or Thaxton. I would love to see him in with Alex Arthur by the end of the year.
He needs to leave Mick Hennessy in order to further his career. When it seems your promoter is more bothered about Lenny Daws and fighters of that level than you..... time to move on. His brother Joe is with Hatton Promotions.... why not move across?
Reckon he'll move soon. Was basically slagging Mick off himself in Boxing News recently. I like Murray, he's still only 23 or 24 but want him to get a move on, think he could win the Euro belt then who knows.
Hennessy is a strange one. He ought to be getting his best fighters the airtime on his ITV deal. Not wanting to sound disparaging toward the likes of Daws and the other guys he has fighting for English titles, but instead of having 10 rounds of them, we want to see Murray, Witter and Barker - guys that you can actually see going somewhere, together with Froch and Fury. Witter gave him a bit of a jab on Bunce Hour a few weeks back, basically blaming him for not making the Bradley rematch (which would have been sanctioned by the WBC - bearing in mind they accepted Cherry).... and now Murray. Priorities need to be sorted.... all part of running a successful business!
WBC rules I'm pretty sure forbid automatic rematches :deal Hennesey explained his side is that the ITV 4 deal and cash allows him to put on a British title as main event, an eliminator/area as cheif support and a few prospects beneath that. He gets a lot of stick on here which I don't think is warranted. He is basically straight and does well by his fighters most of the time IMO.
I am sure you can give an immediate rematch if the defence is voluntary.... was Cherry voluntary? From memory I think he was, but feel free to correct me on that issue.
He was voluntary, but that doesn't matter. WBC rule 1.29: 1.29 Immediate Rematch Policy. The WBC does not recognize immediate rematch clauses in championship bout agreements and will not sanction or authorize immediate rematches, except as a mandatory defense by a majority vote of the Board of Governors under the following circumstances: the result of the fight was controversial or irregular; when the first match was of such extraordinary results that it could constitute a public demand and great promotion, prestige and importance for the sport of boxing and the WBC. The winner of the immediate championship rematch must comply with mandatory defense obligations existing at the time of the original contest.
That rule totally contradicts itself! Surely a voluntary defence can be anyone - I didn't mean the rematch being contractual.... rather granted as a voluntary defence.
I think the point is that unless there is a big stink, then other qualifying contenders should get a shot. I can see the point, ie get yourself back into contention. WTF, I never thought I'd ever be on here almost defending the WBC...
