I dont know Tarver but he looks like he has a good head on his shoulders and I have difficulty believing he knowingly took steroids. I mean these guys know that they are going to be tested so why would they use PEDs. It makes no sense, like with Andre berto, i remember he was accusing victor of using PEDs and then he tested positive, he can't be that stupid, why would he accuse some one and then go ahead and use it himself and get caught?

My question is, does the protein they sell in GNC contain steriods? I myself work out regularly and I buy whey protein, creatine and glutamine from GNC, how do I find out if these things have PEDs. Since i am buying it from GNC i will assume that it has no banned substances.

I wonder if these guys are just buying protein supplements thinking they are clean and are unknowingly consuming PEDS.

No PEDS, but you are waaaay overpaying for what you get. It's basically powdered milk with some other bean extract, all for $30 a pound. See all those fancy "ingredients" on the side? That's just a list of the same enzymes & core nutrients that can be found in everyday food. (If you want extra creatine or whatever, you can buy cheap pills for that. Take them WITH food for best absorption.)

Also note that the body actually needs VERY little protein every day, especially since it re-uses much of what's torn apart by your workouts. Any extra just taxes your kidneys. (drink a LOT of water if you are taking heavy suppliments.)

Believe me, I have a masters degree in this. Do a little research, buy carefully at Pathmark, and save yourself a ton of money.

It should also be noted that "PEDS" encompasses a wide range of products. The OP is probably referring mostly to steroids.

Technically, if I give you a glass of tap water, and tell you it has a special ingredient that will make you stronger, it's a PED. - because you'll believe me and the placebo effect will in fact make you fight more aggressively. (One of the reasons people spend all that money on / believe in all that GNC & Weider nonsense.)

Thanks for the insight. Do you think that in some cases the boxers may in fact had taken supplements not knowing that it contained banned substances?
