These things follow the market. The demand for boxing mags isn't there any more except from a fairly small niche, so the supply has dried up.

The Ring is apparently still going but I can't remember the last time I saw an issue on a news stand or in a shop.

I'd much rather thumb pages then click a mouse when I'm on my throne making a deposit.

Johnny Bos and I used to go to the 42nd Times Square, newsstand cos they got the new Ring Magazines first. The Ring, Boxing Illustrated, and the great wkly, British Boxing News, were the top three the rest like KO, I hardly ever bought, cos they were the worst for results. There was an excitement to it, waiting for the arrival of any of the top three and reading about a fight you might have seen a month or so ago. Today you know what happened anywhere in the world within minutes or hours of the event. aah those were the days. I definitely agree with "Misfit", done my best thinking there lol

Everything about the net, man.Plus, everything is more expensive.I remember when Ring Magazine was $1.75.No more.comics books are almost $4 dollars. In that case, take the net.

The only boxing mag i see around anymore is the ring, and i get a copy in the mail every month, it's been around i think umm forever the 20"s :huh, so with that kind of longevity it's not going anywhere...

I used to buy KO, World boxing, Boxing illustrated, etc, and another one but i can't remember the name , but for some reason they just faded away, last time i saw any of those mags around was way way back around 2005, i guess when the economy here in the USA tanked so bad in 2007-2008- folks didnt have the extra money to spend on magazine subscriptions so they all faded away...

I used to collect all those ring mags from way back in the 70's but when i moved out of California , the assholes from the moving company ripped them off..

Not really. Women's magazines still stack the shelves, certain fitness magazines are still selling plenty as are motoring magazines.

I haven't seen a boxing mag around these parts for 10 years, maybe more. Their quality was starting to dip though, so I'm not sure if I'm missing out on anything.

I do miss the good old days when you could buy 5 quality magazines each month though.

Its a bit like video tapes.
At least you could keep them.
Now everything is recorded on your 'sky box'...trouble is when the sky box becomes defunct..bang go all your recordings.
Most people rely on u tube for old stuff....but one day there will be no u tube.
No 'hard' copies of anything will exist of anything at some point.

The thing I liked in particular about Big Book of Boxing is that every issue they had a Dream Fight section, where they had 2 fighters from different eras face each other. They really went in depth too, from the prefight build up, to the fight with round by round coverage, to the postfight press conference.

Maybe the Ring, since it seems to be the only boxing mag still around should revive that Dream fights idea. Judging by the posts here on the Classic forum, matching fighters from different eras seems as popular as ever.

There a quite a few MMA magazines available and surprisingly 3 or 4 bodybuilding mags.

Bodybuilding (if it can be classified as a sport) is more popular with readers than boxing??

That's probably simple if you're under 45 but for those of us that are computer dumb mainly over 45's . Personally I would love to be able to download from YouTube then stick the fights on discs so I can re-watch them any time without having to be on a computer
