What's happened to Stiverne since the Wilder fight? I haven't heard any news on what he's doing at all. Has he retired or something, or just gone off the radar and become inactive?
Same thing that always does, he just goes away for awhile. Being inactive is kind of a pattern with him.
Yep pretty much this. 6 fights in 7 years including one period where he didn't fight for 2 years after the Rossy fight is typical of Stiverne and King fighters in general. Last thing I saw about him he was the guest star at some Casino in Vegas hosting a buffet dinner of all things lol. He truly is the buffet king! He should probably retire he'll be 40 next month and looked shot the hell vs Wilder.
Im sure i only read the other day hes back in training and looking to make a fight. So based on that i think he may be the new number 4 in the WBC rankings behind Dominic Breazeales son and just in front of a fish tank.
Stiverne and Ortiz are playing baccarat and bowls down at the club in preperation of their WBC second mandatory divefest.
I hope Bermane is first in line for a rematch after he gets his comeback win. He deserves that rematch for being seriously ill in the first fight, and morbidly obese in the second. Just imagine the scenes in here if he replaces Fury, lol.
He's turning 40 in two months. I feel a title shot would be a suitable birthday present, Don King should be able to arrange that.
Just how ill was he? I heard there were talks of him being dehydrated or something along those lines. Was this actually true or just a rumour? Pretty impressive if he was considering he went the full 12 rounds against Wilder in their first fight. I assumed Stiverne just looked somewhat the same performance wise against Wilder as he had done against Arreola and the others, with the same high guard and plodding forward technique.
He had rhabdomyolysis in the first fight, which is when your muscle breaks down releasing myoglobin into the bloodstream. It can be lethal, every once in a while you hear someone dying from it. Stiverne probably sustained an injury in training which caused this. Suffice to say he would of been severely hampered but it's his own fault he likely pushed himself too hard in training because he came into training camp so heavy, either he would of given himself Rhabdo or he would of come in at 254lbs like he did in his next 2 fights. Suffice to say either way he was never going to beat Wilder by being so lazy and ill disciplined between fights.
Thanks for clearing that up for me! I agree with what you said though; he would have either come in grossly, grossly overweight, or grossly overweight with some sort of issue going on.
