whats happened to paul applby? youngest british champ ever from scotland, won the boxing writers young boxer of the year award. had one loss to a good martin linsey, which in my opinion if he was going to take that fight his promoter should have secured him the home advantage atleast before sending him over to belfast to a very intimidating kings hall. (was a great night though) im already a big fan, hes quite local to us. he has a great exciting style, loves to go fighting. where is he now? hes not fought since and i heard he left tommy gilmour ( best news ever) i also heard he was tlaking to frank warren who i believed wanted to sign him origanally too. anyone know anything?
He's signed up with Frank Warren and should be fighting again soon. He has a new trainer and from what I hear he is coming on leaps and bounds. He has years ahead of him so a couple of warm ups this year and then 2011 wil be his year.
think hes signed with warren ,hes training with terry mccormack, was meant to get european shot but broke his hand
BRILLIANT! thanks alot, really hoped he hadnt jack it in. anyone else rate him? and i've always thought he could possibly move up a weight at some point too.
yeah i rate paul, used to train alongside him a few years back,go onto his facebook page, ran by his mum so up to date info
aye sorted mate will do, need a good scottish fighter to watch, instead of wasting money on the likes of 'powder puff' lee mcallister.
john simphsons still a good fighter,as is burns and limond , we did have some good fighters eg gary young, mcmillan, arthur, harrison and i suppose you could say barry hughes recently but they all fuked up somehow, pity we dont have a good scottish heavyweight
With Frank Warren looking after Appleby now, I would be suprised if the kid didnt win a world title in the next 3 years... & thats the truth.
When were Gary Young, Gary Mcmillan or Barry Hughes ever good? All three are awful not even near british title level. As for a scottish heavyweigh their was Ian Millarvie but he had lots of injury problems and has gave it up now i think, shame think he could of least made it to British level considering how poor the HW division is right now.
john simpsons ok but paul already beat him. i was looking forward to ricky burns next fight when i thought it was going to be in the kelvin hall. he moved onto the kevin mitchel undercard now though! good for him however bad for me
for him to do that he'd need to get past simpson and lindsay and i simply dont see that happening, sorry.
