seems like i heard about this fight years ago, when the f--- is it happening, if at all, al meechi s problem is he can fight, if your talented in u.k. its the kiss of death on a career, all the upright styled fighters teams avoid you like the plague.:--(
There's a thread on it somewhere if you search el maachi or however you spell his name. Think it's on for late November.
almeechi is a championship calibre fighter, but he doesen't qualify for british or comonwealth, would he qualify for a euro, as he;s from n/africa,? i accept that that point could make it dificult for him to get meaningfull u.k.fights, good fighter though, beleive he fought a 12rnd championship in his debut battle.:good
His promoter has stated that he has had great difficulity finding quality opponents for El Maachi because the only titles he qualifies for are the 'Masters' titles and southern area title. He was also rejected for prizefighter because Hearn knew he couldn't really do anything with him. He was meant to fight for an African title but the fight fell threw. Colas is ranked no 4 in Europe so a win will raise El Maachi's profile and get him into the world title picture. The plan is to get him a world title shot in the next 12 months. I'm going to York hall on the 4th and I am looking forward to seeing how he looks. I dont think El Maachi is upto world level but wish him all the best
I'd get a ticket soon, believe it or not the tickets are selling quick, theres a lot of fights on the card.
Just looked at Colas record. He has never been stopped and lost to Koceny on majority decision last year. I smell an upset
The upset would actually be El Maachi winning :good Goodwin promotions have made a bold move going for Colas; I'm hoping it pays off.
