What's harder to deal with when fighting bigger men? Their power or their chin?

    Gee, Herol, you're dense.

Nobody tries till actively hold the head still, it's beeing held (more) still automaticly when moving up in weight, because more energy is needed to create movement.

On AVERAGE the chin...thats why weight classes were created bc it made bigger guys who were less skilled able to outlast smaller ones...common sense. The power? Yea most of the time but its more to do with the rounds TOTAL of outweighing someone which in turn more than not can defeat a better puncher who weighs less....who would win GGG or Domic Breazeale ? ITS CHIN not punching power.

HW vs HW its the guy with better chin more than power USUALLY......but if the thread is suggesting the SIZE gap ..the bigger guy USUALLY wins due to being able to absorb more shots...of course the PRIME guy with a good chin has the advantage.

Both really, but the chin appears to be the bigger problem..............

u r misguided. Bracing means more momentum passes to the brain.

They key is to balance avoidance with maintaining posture enough to strike back, not simply "taking a punch by tensing your neck muscles"

This topic has surfaced several times over the years, and I've always said on each occasion I entered the debate that several factors are key.

There is little point in you trying to pretend otherwise.

    And yet:

"But, outside of indecipherable differences in the brain itself, there is another part of the body that plays a huge role in determining whether or not a fighter will receive their first concussion - the neck.

It's not how thick your skull is, or the shape of your jaw. It's not what you eat, or how old you are. The stronger the neck muscles, the less the brain jiggles, the less likely a concussion will be suffered.

This suggests that if a fighter, or any other person, wants to stand a better chance of avoiding concussion

‘Tuck your chin’, is not just a thing that gets barked out, it’s scientifically and medically prudent advice.

    Give it up, Herol.

I'll give this to Herol: he has an "iron chin" on these boards in respect to running head first over and over into a wall even when he's palpably wrong.

You are assuming I said you shouldnt strengthen your neck muscles.

Quote me where I said that, or fail..

    yup, fail once again.

Nobody is talking about actively bracing. What happens when heavier (heavier head, neck, torso) is that a punch generates less acceleration (movement) because of acceleration=force /mass.

Can't tell if you're being serious or not. A larger, thicker jawbone, surrounded by a larger amount of muscle and soft tissue is obviously going to require more force to be acted upon it in order to pressure the nerves behind the jaw to cause the body to shutdown.
