I first heard that it was going to be a 24/7 series, but I think it's going to be a HBO Countdown.

    Anybody know the official word.

I was watching some HBO fight and they said Countdown to Cotto Margo not 24/7.

24/7 was Mayweather's idea so if it doesnt involve him it wont happen

Unless Mayweather owns the rights to 24/7. HBO can do it without him. However, it would make no sense for HBO to do a 24/7 for Cotto vs. Margarito.

It doesn't matter if it was his idea or not. He doesn't own the rights to the show, HBO do. They could have Ruiz/Virchis 24/7 if they wanted to.

I guess we'll have to wait for a Cotto-DLH fight to get a 24/7. THey better not drop the ball on this countdown though.

A 24/7 for Cotto-Margarito would most likely be a waste of money.

Hardcore fans are already going to watch this. Would a 24/7 with Margarito barely speaking English and Cotto, with the personality of a scarecrow, attract the casual fans like it did for Mayweather-DLH and Mayweather-Hatton?

Maybe a 24/7 showing Cotto in a family setting (showing some personality) would bring casual fans and mainstream media. Maybe I'm wrong, who knows...:think

A 24/7 series would help PPV sales somewhat, but enough to make up for the production costs of the series?

If you want to make a cost benefit analysis you need to take into account the effect a 24/7 would have on Cotto's visibility (PPV sales) for future bouts, not only this fight. I'm certain these will outweight the production costs. If HBO wants to tap on cotto's PPV potential they need to bring him to the mainstream fan and media. If not, he'll only make 200k PPV buys (unless he fights DLH or PBF) and not the 500k plus he's capable.
