I want to ask the question, what would it take to beat him? not specifically who, but how? is there a blueprint? is the key in the Castillo fight? or is Floyd just....unbeatable?

Why is it in most Mayweather fights, his opposition become predictable? why is it they lose the will to win, do they all slowly realise they are in a no win situation? why is no-one confident to step in the ring with him and know they can win?

Imagine Floyd faced a fighter identical to himself, how would he beat him?

Someone who doesn't try to out-think Floyd (which is next to impossible), but instead tries to out-fight/out-work him? It’s not as easy as it sounds of course, because most opponents become wary of his poisonous-like counter punching, and effective defence. It’s here where a person should not be deterred by the amount of counter rights he eats, or his failure to land clean on his head.

Instead, take advantage of Floyd’s tendency to be too defensive and stingy with his punches, and impress the judges via aggression and output. Just be persistent with combinations to the body, arms, shoulders, and the rare occasion you get to his head. This is certainly more productive than hitting thin air, or bouncing around like Mosley and not doing anything at all! Take note from what Calzaghe mustered against B-Hop. Yeah he was unsuccessful in nearly all of his attacks and rarely even troubled B-Hop, but he managed to steal a decision (with a bit of luck) based on work rate alone.

This is the only way I can see Mayweather taste defeat – a bit of misfortune for him, and an opponent who doesn’t try to match him in skill, but tries to impress the only people that matter (the judges!)

Pac, Berto and Cotto would all lose. Give him Paul Williams and he'll lose.

Paul Williams? Come on man the guy is all arms and legs.

High output means nothing against a precision technician like Mayweather. He'd tie Williams in knots for me and make him look like a spaghetti legged amateur.

Always makes me laugh when people mention Williams as the man to beat Mayweather.

Ok Wig, so how do you think he can be beat? if Williams is not the answer.

Williams clearly aint the answer mate come on

I always thought Cotto (pre plaster) had the best chance of taking Floyd out of his comfort zone as Prime Cotto brings educated pressure, vastly underrated footwork, beautiful boxing behind his jab, and a vicious left to the body - his one weakness for me is when he is drawn into a war, which I don't think would happen with Floyd somehow.

Now? I don't think anyone out there up to 154 beats Floyd. Pacquiao will make it exciting but for me Floyd shows a step up in class, boxes to a beauiful UD and people immediately say he is beating up on the smaller man (which isn't even true if you look at fight night weights)

Like everyone else though, pacquiao is the fight I want to see because I believe the first few rounds could be dynamite but I honestly see floyd negating all pacs best work with apparent ease

This I can see possibly. A younger Oscar would have been able to keep up that pressure, to ensure at least 7 of the rounds were in the bag.
