From a friend of mine what he told me is it's like being a soldier of war. Experiencing a whole bunch of emotions like rage, invincibility, irritability, happy, angry, sad, relaxed, just off the ****ing charts. He could snap in an instant and was ready to kill and the slightest things set him off. He said mundane **** like taking a shower and going to the toilet could be hard at times and like a job from being sore and exhausted. Sleep was a must, diet was a mofo ( also tedious and like a job ) and forget about kids and women. That made him angry and pissed off and brought him down. Forget about texts or emails. No distractions. No loss of foucs. Winning was like a drug and highly addictive. Even being in camp despite all of this **** because the highs were extremely high. As mentioned. The feeling of being invincible. What stories do you have?
Every day should be like being in fight camp. Deep in camp. You don't play boxing you live it. I used to train twice as hard on my days off and I'd be up at the crack of dawn every morning without fail doing my six miles come rain, sleet or snow. If you want to achieve anything in this life you got to put the work in and if you want you children to amount to anything you've got to instill that work ethic in them too. Personally I can't stand kids so I couldn't give two hoots if they amount to nothing, whether they're my own or someone else's. Horrible little buggers the lot of them.
It’s not that serious. A lot of these guys have been training for most of their lives so they’re pretty used to things. When a fight comes up they’re just a lot more focused and train a few more days out of the week. I think it may just be my gym environment, but I rarely come across a pro with a **** you attitude during their camp.
Most fighters have their emotions in check and dont act like animals. If your tactic is to "outwill" your opponent you are headed toward the land of CTE. It is true that you need to dig deep at times but skills pay the bills. Training, rehearsal, videos, sparring with specific components help prepare for particular moves/reactions...there's definitely some machismo too but not like the zoo OP described. That emotional **** def takes place in amateurs though
That's usually the last week for most fighters. Spence/Charlo cut like 60lbs so its more often but most guys cut like 15-20 lbs
your friend might have been on peds. No emotions but alot of the other stuff posted is true. Youre less likely to put up with peoples bs though. When people act stupid you call them out and if they say **** you literally just walk out to the street and call their bluff.
not a fu attitude but speaking in a matter of fact way though which is normal for supremely confident people and always mistaken for cockiness or arrogance by average joes and karens.
