    Arm punches.

To those who ridicule boxers for pot shoting need to realize that this is more effective in terms of actualy damage then an arm punch that gets boxing's novice so excited. Arm punches have little power and are to score points and to get an uneducated crowd excited. The pot-shot is actually effective. It normally swells up eyes busts noses and does a lot of bruising damage. An example would be Floyd(pot shoter) though floyd pot shots, the guy he is fighting almost always looks like the elephant man after the fight. Except ODH. But if you seen floyds most pot shotting performance in Baldomir you would see that Baldomir was all bust up from the first round. Also taking constant pot shots wears down a fighter mentally b/c they keep getting hit and dont get to hit the other guy back. For those that frown upon pot shoting need to take a good look at arm punchers that are even less exciting to me. Mosley is an arm puncher supreme. Most of his shots as does ODH are arm punches. When the two of them fought the second time I thought that was a boring arm punch fest fight. Thats just me. But dont knock the pot-shot. :deal

pot shot to me is straight hand or jab that is not thrown hard but fast.to keep some one at bay perhaps or to score points.or just a punch thrown when ur hand is ****ed up and it hurts to throw a punch super hard.

Wrong..that is not what pot shoting is considered here on ESB and boxing. Its more landing one shot and getting out of the way. A jab is a jab. A pot shot is a punch that has something on it but is not followed up with a combination.

Its very effective for guys with a lot speed that can punch in between their opponents punches and movements. Mayweather and Hopkins are the current kings of pot shotting, and considered among the best.
Personally I dont like it as a style, and yes far more effective than arm punches. Look at what Mayweather did to Oscar and Oscar landed all arm punches doing nothing to Floyd.

do you shadow box or slap box.punches are alot faster when you punch like that but they do knowing to you.that why we called it slap boxing cause it felt like slaps but the hands come out you alot quicker then a closed fist.

When a fighter uses his opponents forward momentum to land quick straight shots, its very effective. That is what Floyd does very well.
