myself and another poster were going back and fourth... i'd like to get ur opinion.
*whats more impressive when looking at the first Pac vs Marquez fight.
the three knockdowns from Pac in the first or Marquez getting up and winning more rounds in that fight...

I think it depends on what they do once they get up... clearly the fact that Marquez got up and won most of the remaining rounds is more impressive. However, it's not quite the same as Macca getting back on his feet after that bomb from Frenkel, only to be blasted out immediately after. (actually kind of impressive that Enzo even got up from it, but clearly the punch trumped THAT)

That combo JMM landed on Pacman at :36...classic. One combination I will remember for all of my life.

Well, anyone can get knocked down. But it takes heart and will to keep getting up.

Corrales, Gatti, JMM, were always immpressive in their ability to get off the canvas to win fights. Gamboa is one of those guys too. a lot of guys that get knocked down that arent badly hurt, are hurt more mentally than physically. a lot of fighters dont have that toughness to get up and not lose focus in the event of a flash knockdown. Most guys get up and stray from their gameplan and abandon their skills. Great champions know exactly what to do in the event of a knockdown and dont panic. they know there opponent might get wreckless pursuing them and and they exploit that. Or if they really are hurt they know how to run the clock out and stay out of harms way and get back on track the next round. i always think it is immpressive when a guy gets off the canvas to win a fight, because a lot of guys cant dont find a way to win after being down..

I think too much is made of the knockdowns, JMM was never really hurt or in danger of being KO'd, same as against Katsidis.

    This.
JMM is WIDE open to the "Left"
I'd be willing to bet all his KD's have come from a left of some sort. :think

    ummm the question was simple...

    what's more impressive?

it's like asking which, in your opinion, tastes better....apples or oranges?

it's an easy question to answer

as for me, i think getting back up each and every time....and winning more rounds of that fight....is a lot more impressive :happy

Marquez getting up and going on to give Pac a tough fight was impressive, but he didn't score any points for it. Nor should it have had any influence over the scoring of any of the subsequent rounds.

Him getting up had more to do with his inherent makeup. The situation was forced on him by Pac. It had nothing to do with his boxing ability. Gatti was able to do the same every time he went down. People are just so in love with the idea of someone being able to come back from adversity being the ultimate test of greatness. It's worth more than total domiance to some fans, which is why a guy like Mayweather has never gotten his just due.

Those saying the three knockdowns were nothing, when was the last time you saw an ATG in his prime knocked down three times in the opening round of his biggest fight?

Pac was the one who utterly dominated that first round like a mini Prime Mike.

juan manuel marquez and mexican fighters in general are known to start off slow...and build momentum as the fight progresses...

this is why it didn't really impress me when he was knocked down 3 times...

marquez was merely getting warmed up

    :deal

Knockdowns, because they are two point rounds. Doesn't matter how much heart you show. As Pac/Marquez 1 illustrates, this isn't a fight in a bar where you can say you think fighter A beat fighter B because he looked better for the longer period of time. It's a sport with rules and a point system and in the end you have judges adding up the rounds off a slip of paper, not going back and remembering what heart was shown by whom.

NOt sure that's where the question was going but I disagree anyway.

Coming back from a knock-down to win always creates drama and makes for classic fights
