What's next for Bute after Joppy?

Kessler just got a hand surgery...

He was inviting Bute for the summer more than the spring, and yes, Bute declined. And yes, people don't rush to fight Kessler. As Froch avoided Bute.
A dangerous boxer without a title does have trouble to find good opponents. That's why Bute is stucked with Joppy. Interbox wanted visibility in the USA, he was the only one with a name who accepted. I don't like this fight more than you do, I did not buy tickets this time. But Bute is already inviting Taylor to fight him, so I'm not ready to say he's ducking good opponents.

 

Only man Bute is ducking 168 and south is Kessler. However, he gave a strong hint that Kessler is the ultimate target for him, the man he hopes to fight one day - he hinted at spring 2009.

Kessler didn't just have hand-surgery, but he could have had that earlier, if he had found a fight or he could have postponed it after a fight...

Bute would beat Kessler right now but Kessler doesn't have a belt to fight for. So Bute's gonna wait until Kessler gets a belt...

 

Bute would almost certainly lose to Kessler right now.

Yes, and Bute agrees! He said: "I hope to be ready to face someone as good as Kessler this time next year [next Spring]!" This to me suggests he is not ready NOW!

Maybe not. But when Bute says: "I am ready for Kessler!" and when he gets into that ring with him, I will take it he means he is ready to win, not just to do well. :good

 

Bute can't beat Kessler, stylistically he has more a shot even against the great Calzaghe than that jab happy Viking.
