Having a 17 day old has taken me out of the pulse of boxing beyond a mainstream level lately. What's the idea on who's next for Canelo.

Also, as an aside, I always wonder why there are never any stories of fighters who actually take their money and retire. I guess Canelo is going to walk away with about 4-6 million after taxes. I mean he could really retire and live off that the rest of his life. He won't. But he could. Again, I realize he isn't going to do this, just a general though thinking if fighting is a means to an end why continue fighting when you've become a millionaire. You could say the same about athletes in other sports, but no other sport is as violent as boxing, could you really blame a guy if he decided to retire instead of taking punches to the head for a living?

    I digress.

He still has a bright future. Only 23. Will fight molina and the dudes at 154 and try to unify

As far as fights go, I'd like to see him against Cotto and Lara

He's a millionaire. Now if he bought a few franchises that could really help his future.

Only reason he's working a shift at Mcdonald's is if Margarito calls in a favor and asks him to cover a shift.

Not great for boxing but Naz did this. Retired with the money when he could've fought on against some big names. He didn't need to re-match Barerra as he would've never beat him. Similar story here with Canelo. There is still too much for him to make of himself. If he goes on to do great, a loss to Mayweather will hardly count against him.

hes going to fight molina, look average as that is what he is, and win a UD decision in which both fighters will do nothing to warrant any relevancy in the 154 division.

and then the canelo hype will continue to diminish from its already low levels from the astronomical hype levels it was at just six month ago.

there is only so much that a 5'7" jmw with short legs and bad footwork, no real one punch power in either hand and low output can accomplish.

If Cotto wins in October he should sign to fight him, but he'll go for a belt instead.

Schaefer has already stated he'll put him in the ring for his next fight for a title, which makes sense. He's still an excellent 154 lb fighter and would give anyone fits in that division.

makes sense for him to take on Molina next to claim a belt pretty easily at 154lbs and help him regain some confidence he might've lost after the wipeout by Floyd. He shouldn't take off as much time as guys like Ortiz and Guerrero took after they were dominated by Mayweather. he's very young and still has a very bright future ahead of him.
