Whats Next for Chris Arreola?

I bet so, too.

While I would like to see him fight a decent, world class name, I also doubt his ability to beat someone like that, just yet.

I think he'll fight another C level opponent, next.

And that's probably the best route for him, given that a C level fighter like Walker just had him down in the first round.

I can't see anyone seriously mentioning the K Bros, at this point, cause that level of a fight is WAAAY down the road for Arreola, if at all. As for now, I think there is any number of other current heavies who'd take Arreola out. He's just not nearly fast or skilled enough to face a known, good fighter yet. If he does, he'll be served has ass on a platter. I can list at least ten current heavies who would do so.

 

Fight a good contender like Austin or Thompson.

 

Arreola would be thrashed by either, and quite easily.

 

Sam Peter is free and a logical fight. War, Baby!

Forget about Dimitrenko. I dont think Kohl is taking that risk, although i think Dimitrenko beats Arreola quite easily.

 

After watching his most recent fight, I don't think he's ready to fight a real Gatekeeper quality opponent yet.

He needs to get into (and stay in) shape for his fights. Just as important would be trying to stay within 10lbs of fighting weight between fights. Sorry, but this guy is a tub and really get serious about conditioning at this stage of his career. I expect better from a pro athlete.

Considering his height, he is very tubby at 250lbs+, he needs to focus on the low 230ish range through quality conditioning and diet modification.

I'd go and make a fight with Brian Minto, Friday Ahunanya or Kali Meehan before taking a step up. All of those guys should be "safe" fights if Chris is half as good as many here think!

- if he beats these guys within 3 to 4 rounds he's ready to move up
- if he needs more than 6 rounds he needs more work (probably better conditioning)
- If it goes to a decision he ain't all he's cracked up to be
- If he loses......

I personally think a fight with Maskaev would be PERFECT for Arreola to take. Maybe a guy like Ibragimov, too.

Walker had him almost down and out in the first round- Chris was really reeling and could have been stopped.
Sam Peter takes those shots and just keep coming-- against normal heavies, not Vitali-- Arreola needs alot of work before he hits top 5 talent...

 

I like Arreola. He comes to fight. He can hit. And he has heart, but he's not going to last long with his defense. Arreola needs to drop 20 pounds, and pick his next opponent carefully.

 

I'm not sure he would.

Maskaev has a good punch...but he is and always has been a stationary, VERY stiff target...plus he definitely lets you know when he's shaken by a punch.

Ibragimov is probably underrated due to his non-performance against Wlad, but even outside of that fight...I can't help to remember how bad he struggled against Ray Austin. I could see Arreola beating him at this point unless Iggy goes back to actually throwing punches.

 

For starters he is far from ready for either Klitschko. I would personally like to see some sort of eliminator between Arreola and Brewster if Brewster can pick up another win or two. There is a nice story line between the winner of that taking on Wlad. Arreola would be an aggressive, undefeated, powerpuncher-Wlad's achilles heel. If Arreola were to beat Brewster, coming off of a 2-3 fight winning streak, that would represent Arreola's biggest win in the ring and on paper. If Brewster were to beat Arreola that would be a very nice win for the veteran and set up a rubbermatch with Wlad. It would sell and if Brewster were to have enough left to knock off Arreola it would also make a third fight with Wlad somewhat interesting. Not too mention a Brewster-Arreola fight would be a slugfest.

 

I really think Arreola beats Maskaev right now. Maskaev is too old to deal with Arreola. Sultan is a bit different. I'd steer Arreola clear from him if I were his people unless I had no choice. Sultan seems to be a bad style match up for Arreola. But yeah, the one that fought Austin would lose to Arreola. But I think thats not a typical Sultan performance and he'd probably win a decision from Arreola. Arreola steamrolls through Austin though.

Seriously, you have a point, but I still think either Maskaev or Ibrag both beat Arreola. Oleg could probably KO him, given what Walker managed to land, at will, putting him down. And I think Ibrag would absolutely paste him.

 

I don't why people are so high on the guy. I thought he looked like **** on saturday.
