First of all, congratulations Margarito. He fought his ass off and showed why nobody wanted a piece of him. Now on to Cotto, if you ask me, Cotto was fighting the perfect fight. Everything was working for him except that Margarito wasnt going anywhere. Cotto was badly beaten up and it was the type of beating that changes a person's career.

All in all, great fight. And I cant wait to see this warriors back in the ring.

:good I thought he was fighting beautifully too, but like you say Margo wasnt going anywhere! How does Cotto approach a rematch, presuming it happens? What does he do differently?

I wouldn't consider Cintron a tuneup. It would be a downright tough fight.

his future looks a bit cloudy imo. he cant go to 154......he is too small. he cant go back down to 140 either.

and margo will stay at 147.........and a rematch is a bad idea cause it could end his career.

that is if he is still the same after this fight which i doubt.

    A tuneup.

Then Clottey-Judah winner, or a Margarito rematch.

I think this kind of loss seriously damages Cotto's career permanently. I believe his handlers won't put him in the ring with a serious power puncher for atleast 3-4 fights. They are going to make as much money as possible with little to no risk against guys like Collazo. I could definitely see them putting him in against Jesus Soto Karass for his first fight back. Karass has been getting some good publicity for the past year or so, but present absolutely no risk.

More than likely they will have him in against B-level competition for two years or so and count on the nuthuggers to pay to see him destroy these guys. The logic being that two years from now possibly Margarito has lost to someone else, or retired and Paul Williams has probably moved up in weight. The pickings for the belts will be a lot easier with Berto, Clottey, Cintron on top by then.

One side note would be to put him in with Cintron for his third fight back or so because it would be a Puerto Rican bloodlines fight, (big money) but without that much risk, because even though Cintron can bang, I believe Cotto's skill level is a couple of notches above Cintron's.

In the end though, I believe that Cotto's aura of invincibility is gone. This will effect his confidence for the rest of his career and also give confidence to anyone who fights him from here on out. One loss usually doesn't ruin a fighters career, but when you get the snot beaten out of you and have to end up just taking a knee twice to avoid further punishment, well that's a whole different kettle of fish.

Fight a few tuneups, maybe Bojado or Forbes in Puerto Rico for the fans.
