He should go for Clottey's belt next year.

People are saying he should get in there with Andre Berto-
I think that it would be too soon to step back in there with a hard fight like Berto (although I think Cotto a. shuts out berto and/or KO's him quick in normal circumstances). I think he will spend 2009 regaining momentum. Fighting people like (but not necesarily) Lazcano, mbaye... you know, names that are around but not legitamate threats, career building gatekeepers at this point. 2009 should be a rebuilding year. then in 2010 perhaps fight Margo or Oscar on the eve of PuertO rican parade or Cinco de Mayo and pick up where you left off... any comments?

Cotto should KO Cintron and then either fight Berto or rematch Margarito. Or Williams

With only one loss? He definitely can comeback.

Take a good rest, let his body and mental state recover . . . take one tune up fight and chase any of the belt holders again.

TRUE...cotto needs to mentally git himself together, cuz no one kan go thru what he did with margarito and b completely fine tha next day. I wuda preferred to see a cotto-dlh fite rather then a possible pac-dlh match...i think itz a fite that cotto cuda won and that wuda boosted his confidence thru tha roof. Fightin other lesser names r gonna only boost his confidence so much ya kno?

Cotto SHOULD NOT rematch Margarito immediately. That is how fighters ruin their careers. You have to understand the psychological factors involved. Cotto was used to breaking people down and walking through his opponents and then suddenly he finds himself being broken down, a helpless fighter bleeding profusely and being saved by his uncle. That's a precipitous fall. If Cotto only had a few more combinations in him and just enough energy to stave off Margarito and go the route it would be different but Margarito took the combinations and the energy out of him with a relentless attack.

Top Rank knows what's best for their fighter and I'm sure it does not involve an immediate rematch with Margarito. I'm not saying for Cotto to fight a can but he should definitely stay away from Margarito right now.
